Hey guys if your like me, you break alot of canopy mounting rods. So the last 3 or 4 crashes i've had i have broke my canopy mounting rods, so i decided enough of this shit im going to make my own, so i dug around in my field box and found some old carbon fiber training gear, so i started sanding and was thinking, man this is gonna take all day. so i had a wet wheel in my workshop and used that to get it down to size and then used sand paper to smooth every thing out. So thats it guys it saved me today, i went to the hobby store yesterday to get parts and forgot the canopy mounting rods, so i improvised and by the way they should be stronger because they are made from carbon fiber:YeaBaby:

I think my stock mounting rod is carbon fiber. I have a lot of that stuff from an old Hummingbird heli. I knew there was some reason I kept that junk.
Of course, I have altered mine with my velcro body mounts. I still do not know if it will work once I get into 3D and fast backwards flight and such. Hopefully someone will test and report back before I get to that point.

Tell me more about the Rex 500 mounts... I've been trying to find a solid mounting rod that will work better than the carbon rod. How do they install in the frame?

you have a bit of threaded rod that goes into the post, the other half goes into the same hole you stick the rod in now. Clearance for the servo arm is a little tight so make sure it doesn't bind (I also put some CA on the threads to make sure it doesn't back out)

Hey all
I just found this canopy at my LHS. It is for the TRex 450. It cost 10.50. It fits on the blade perfectly. The rod goes on top of the servos and just sits there and the canopy is held very well (see attachments) I just put the rod all the way through the canopy. Also these Maverikk blades are awesome. Heli more stable with them. I used a washer from the grey plastic props and it was a perfect shim.
Later I will install the windshield and trim the canopy as per finless. I like the white it matches my TRex 600 canopy and is very visible. Also I made a mounting rod from a steel rod and it works well with very little weight.

You can buy 2mm CF rod at the LHS and cut to lenght for under 5 bucks. You can make about 6 sets out of it.

Nice discovery, I'm stupid, I drilled two new holes to mount my T Rex canopy in the factory location, but now I just put the rod thru like you did and it fits even better, thanks.

Quick, easy, cheap. Cut a piece off an old flybar, fits just fine, and everyone should have some of those laying around. Good fix in the field to keep ya flying at the least.
