Ok, this stinks.

After weeks of not being able to figure out what is wrong with my Blade 400, I put it in the box to rot for a while. After playing with some planks, I pulled it back out to give it a whirl again. I spent all day trying to set up the new S9257 I bought to replace the crappy 3156 servo that was giving me a wag. I have no idea how to set this thing up to fit.

So, I finally get it to fit kinda half ass and the pushrod that dirves the rotor blade pitch is too long, even with the link screwed all the way in. I reduced my limit to 100% and now my travel is two times longer to the left than the right. I figured it would work anyway so I spun up the chopper and the nose spins violently to the left. I have absolutely no tail authority. Hopefully this makes sense.

What the heck do I do now???
How do I put in this 9257 so the stock pushrod fits properly?

The gyro is at 66.5 percent. The belt is on correctly. I am about to put this thing on Ebay.

first off flip the reverse switch on the gyro itself, where do you have the 9257 mounted stock position or boom?

I tried the reverse switch, still the same. In fact, it still spins in the same direction. I fit the servo to the stock mount. Do you have a better way? I tried the T-Rex mount but I couldn't find a pushrod that fit. Any ideas?

There are two functions you need to think of when setting it up.
1. The motion in which the gyro corrects yaw
2. The motion when you give rudder input.
One of the two is going to be backwards,
I have a 9650 that i made fit in the stock mount by taking a small chunk out of the frame and mounting it with the control horn on the frame side. You can do that or buy a trex cnc tail servo mount which goes on the boom. You have to shorten the pushrod, i did that by getting a small piece of .156 carbon rod, Snipped the stock rod to desired length, slid the larger rod over it and CA'd in place.
Hope this helps.

EDIT: Reverse the rudder input motion in your transmitter reversing function.

I have that servo and i managed to fit it in without modding anything, the tail push rod i had to screw all the way in, i used pliers to get it right up tight

i also had to turn my stock gyro up to 80% to make it stay straight while i hover, but now it seems to hold real good and some of the time it's like i'm not even touching the left stick, just using the right to hold the hover

hope these photos of my set up help

cheers chuck

I'm new to the forum and this is my first post. I have been just reading posts for a few weeks and now I am tiring to get more involved.

I just installed the S9257 today. Thanks for the photos  I installed exactly as you did using the photos as a guideline. The only change I made was using one of the TREX 450 mounts instead of the stock one. I figured the servo was nice enough to get the bling

Thanks again.

Hey JMoore, do you have any pics of what you modded on your heli to fit the 9650 in the stock mounting location. I just got a Gy401/9650 combo to replace the stock crap that as given me nothing but problems. By looking at in on mine I was thinking of just cutting the extra case mounts on the servo case itself rather the cutting the frame, was that what you did?

Hello {the russian} i had to heat my original linkage up with a heat gun. Then pull the end off the linkage and then cut the rod. This is what i had to do for mines. I also mounted my servo completely on the boom.
