First off, hello to everyone - (somewhat) long time reader first time poster, lol. Anyway I have a question. I have been flying my blade CP for a few months now and have deceided that it was time to start doing some flips and what not. I am having a bit of an issue though. Let me give you my setup - DD tail, 1000mah 3S Lipo, Airobatic upgrade kit, and the JR receiver with JR XP 6102 radio. I have been flying this with the flat bottom blades no problems. Everything is balanced no vibrations and the blade tracking is perfect. I changed the blades to the symetrical and I now have very little lift. I did the CG and balance and even balanced them on the rotor head. In stunt mode at center stick I have 0Deg. pitch and +10/-10 at each respective end of the stick. I have followed Ron Osinki's Setup to the T for this radio and receiver but still not much helped. Blade tracking is great but still hardly any lift. It will get about 2 ft. off the ground. Out of frustration I put the flat bottoms back on and it flew like new. I have checked my gear mesh and it is fine. I am just at a loss at what to do. The ONLY difference is going from flat bottom blades to the Sym.Blades. I appologize for the long post, especially being my first post but any help is GREATLY appreciated! Thanks again!!!:noteworthy

Not sure if the CP and the CPP use the same motor or not, but try using a motor for a CPP. If that doesn't help things out, you can rule out the motor being the problem (not to mention have a fresh one for when the problem is solved).

how much does it weigh?

it has less lift because the blades produce less lift, but give a higher headspeed.
What stick position are you at when she lifts off?

I see that you say you bought the Aerobatic upgrade kit...
When you swapped the blades did you also swap the motor?
The sym blades need more head speed to produce the same lift as the flat bottoms. You will need to use the 9-tooth pinion motor supplied with the aerobatic upgrade for it to fly properly.
Good luck:D

hey all - sorry it has taken so long for me to reply. I greatly appreciate everyone trying to help! Here is the scoop -
fllyer - I have tried 3 different motors all of them new and still the same problem.
rabidguineapig - It weighs 11.7 oz. that is with the battery and all.
Raptorman37 - with the flat bottom blades I am just over half stick to hover chest high and it flies great. With the sym blades I have to go full stick to get it to hover about 2ft. That is all the higher it will go.
knucklesdragon - I am using the 9t pinion on each of the motors I have tried.
Again I do appreciate any and all help. Thanks again!

get the e-flite pitch gauge, you should have +12/-12 with 0 in the middle, unplug the motors and while holding the flybar level measure the pitch in idle up

Thanks for the response but here is the issue with the pitch. Unless I am missing something the best I can get out of it is +10/-10 with keeping 0 pitch at center. This was done while in Idle up and with a pitch gauge. Again everyones help is greatly appreciated!

i don't remember how i got 12/12 but 10/10 is still good ( i would think). even in Idle up mode you still not far from full stick at a 3 foot hover. you have a friend with a new battery? maybe yours are worn out?

Theres definitely something wrong there. My guess is one of the following:
1) Dying motor
2) Batteries with low voltage (ie dying)
3) Stupid question, but has to be asked: did you put the blades on the right way :P
As others have said, with no vibration or tracking issues, and assuming the blades are new (no covering flying off killing lift), the heli should have no problem lifting at even 3/4 throttle.

neonbjb - I have tried 3 other "new" 9t motors to no avail. The battery is "supposed to be new" from my LHS it is a 3S lipo 11.6V 1000mha. I do use a triton jr charger with the equinox balancer but I have noticed that the number 2 cell seems to drain a little faster than the first and third cell. I should probably buy a new lipo and give it a try but like I said I had just bought this one. Trust me no question is a stupid question, I hate to admit it but at one time when I first started flying I did run into that issue. Blades backwards. It was just an oversite as I know which way they go but I can say that only happened once and not during this issue. I guess I will try a different lipo when I get the chance to pick one up. Again, I do appreciate everyone's help and suggestions. This is a great site filled with great people. Thanks for the help and support. Oh, and sorry for the long post, LOL!

return the battery to the lhs, tell them it has a bad cell, and tell them what charger/balancer your using, a good shop will call up the manufacturer right then and there and convince them you need a new battery, and then give you the aforementioned new battery.

Well, it is fixed. I tried a new battery and bingo! Thanks for the BAT suggestions! Not only that but it was just in time for my Blade 400 to show up, LOL! Anyway, I just want to thank everyone for the help. This SITE ROCKS and it is GREATLY appreciated! I look forward to getting to know everyone better now that I have my blade 400 and the Cp. I kind of feel like I might start fitting in, LOL! I will get some pics and vids up soon! Thanks again EVERYONE!!!!
