View Full Version : DX6i Expo settings Question

Getting sick of me asking questions, yet?????

When I re-built the B400 I made sure that all my settings were stock on the DX6i. It show that all the EXPO settings are at 100% from the factory, and that's how I flew it before and after the crash.

I added a shim to each side and all new servos and it's flying like a charm!

The only problem was that the right stick seems to be a little to sensitive now. I looked up in previous posts and a lot of you said "bump the expo up to 20-30% and it should de-sensitize the stick a little".

Well, I put the expo at 20%, checked the throws in throttle hold and the servos were BARELY moving at all! There's NO way I could fly it like that. I ended up putting the elevator and aileron at 80% and that loosened it up a little.

Can anyone explain? Why does it come at 100% from the factory? Am I missing the boat? (which is VERY likely!)

Thanks!

Hey murf you wouldn't have been in the dual rates menu instead of the expo would you? Thats what it sounds like to me.

Expo just makes it less sensative around center stick where as the dual rates will reduce how much the servo travels.

Hi Murf

The menu you saw shows the DUAL: rates AND the EXPO

It probably said "100% and next to it was INH

This means that the rate in the position of the D/R switch (which was probably "0" was
set at 100% and the Expo was not turned on.

You can set the Ail & Elev dual rates so they are like 100% for position 0 and for something else like 80% for position 1.....you flip the switch and then then menu shows
what the setting is for the other position.

You set the EXPO also on this screen by highlighting the "INH" which means inhibit, or off, and then change it with the scroll wheel. for this heli, you want a positive number (+) for the expo. Some radios use a negative number but Spektrum uses positive.

I hope this helps you........

THANKS GUYS!!!

That makes TOTAL sense now! The 100% is the Dual rate choice and then I toggle over to INH to add or delete +/- sensitivity....I WISH the DX6i manual was a little more specific! I am a firm believer of RTFM before asking questions, but neither the Blade Manual or the DX6i were written very well. Maybe good enough for advanced pilots, but sure as crap not good enough for ME the idiot to understand.

E-FLIGHT should come out with their OWN repair manual! The amount of time they have put into individually charging us for every little bearing and spacer, you'd think that they would have a REPAIR MANUAL of their own now!!!

THANKS AGAIN!!!!!

Also one of your problems is that you were in throttle hold mode this does not only keep blades from spining it also changes a bunch of setting. when checking stuff do not use throttle hold, dissconnect your motor. I ran into this same problem before when i installind new servos. I was using throttle hold and wanderin why i was getting little throw out of my servos. I still agree what was said about the other commets but this i bet was your main problem
