I finally got up the courage to do my first flip. I was pretty scared but managed to pull it off. I did find that I did not have fast enough rotation so i'll need to increase my cyclic controls and work on some expo until I get more comfortable with the increase in throw. (set at -60, -60, +100 right now).
I even managed to do a stall turn, before calling it a flight but I was shaking so bad i needed to land.
Sorry no video, my son was taping it but the battery died before I got to that part.

it's good to hear it worked out ok, doing new stuff without crashing is always good. even when the nerves get to you and you have to land.

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one that shakes like a leaf after a flight .... Congrats on the flip. You may have inspired me to try it tomorrow. I've been thinking about it for about a week now.

You have crossed another threshold...there is no looking back now. How does it feel to be an official 3D helicopter pilot?...LOL!

That is awesome, can't wait to do 3D. Watching other people fly just doesn't cut it, no shaking involved. The reason I fly is cause it makes me shake.

I practice on the sim everyday, and it was just time to finally do it. I can fly nose in, do slow piro's, and figure 8's. I've been working on the slow piro 8's, and inverted nose in on the sim.
I just wanted to be sure I knew how to get out of any problems, and kept psycing myself out all the time. Finally the kids kept egging me to show em a cool trick and i just had to do it ;-)

CONGRATS! :woohoo
I am about at your stage by the sounds of it, but have not tried any 3d yet, other than on the sim. This is a very stupid question, but do you have to be in idle up to do a flip?
Congrats once again....I am jealous :)

definetly need to be in idle up, and if you currently are not flying in idle up I would start flying around in it now. It really helps deal with wind so much better, and overall I find I have much more control.
If you are not flying in idle up it would be wise to start now, because you'll want to make sure you get rid of any tendancy to 'chop the throttle' when you get into trouble. In idle up it's just about a give that doing that will mean $$$ and a big rebuild.

Just started buzzing around in idle up this weekend and love it - will be a while before I attempt a loop.
