Hi,
I am having problems hovering my HDX 450 RTF. When I am spinning it on the ground and move the rudder I got a proper tail response, But as soon as my heli is on the air I have no tail response when I move the rudder stick...Am I doing something wrong or is it something related to the trimming?
Tks,
Nicolas

If it spins out of control then you need to reverse your gyro.

I second that - I did the exact same thing - seemed fine on the floor - but when I lifted it up, the gyro was trying to lock but turning the wrong way - very hard to spot for me - was my first build

Thanks... I am going to try it. When it happened to you, was the tail steady on the air? My tail is kind of steady on the air, the problem is that i can not get the tail to spin in the direction that I want when I apply rudder stick.....

Nicolas

Oh!!!! Then reverse your Rudder Channel in your Radio not your gyro reversing.

No mine was different, I could lift & it would hold steady, if I gave right or left input the heli would move in the correct direction, when I returned the stick to center the tail would search to lock again. it was a wild spin, the gyro was trying to lock in one direction by spinning the wrong way.

I agree with Lithiumstatic, sounds like yours is just the channel in your radio is set wrong.

Thanks guys. I reversed the rudder in my transmitter; now the tail responses in the oposite direction to the rudder stick but I still having the same problem: When the heli is on the groud I can control the tail, but as soon as is on the air I get no response to the rudder stick.
I noticed that when I give right stick to the rudder the tail blades pitchs to the opposite side and come back to the center after I release the stick.... but when I give stick to the left, the tail blades pitches to the opposite side and does not come back to the center.... Do you think this might be my problem???
Thanks!!!
Nicolas

Nicolas, could you post a picture of your heli so I can see how the gyro is mounted...there is an other gentleman having the same issue with his...

http://helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=74055

and there has to be something in common...like the gyro mounted on the wrong axis or somthing...I am also asking Geir to post a picture of his 450

thanks!

Thanks Nicolas,

I had a gyro just like that one time. I'm not sure if this will fix it, but turn your gyro 90 degrees so the label is facing the tail boom. I had it mounted on my heli this way and it worked fine. Let me know the outcome.

Hi Geir,
I think it worked although I'm not sure yet. I got home late yesterday and did not have enough time to charge my battery, however, I rotated my gyro 90 degrees and lifted the heli... and it turned right... but I only did it for a few seconds and then the battery died....I'll try again during the weekend and let you know.

Yes I did. It woked well for the first battery.. then for the second one I lost control of the tail again when the heli was on the air....... I Have no idea of what to do now.....
Any thoughts????

Now it sounds like an intermittent wiring issue. If it worked for one full battery it's setup ok now.

You may want to invest in a much higher quality gyro like a Futaba GY401 or the like.

I was looking at HDX 300 videos, Bob is explaining how to setup the same gyro.
And he also say that it`s a must to set the Gain to 100.
Try to take a look at his video. (still waiting for part).

Not sure if it will help, but I have the same heli with the same gyro, and I have my gyro mounted in the exact opposite direction with no problems at all. My gyro label faces the left side of the heli if your looking at it from the front.

Speaking from experience.... I've used cheaper priced gyros and I learned the last place you want to save money is in that area. I'm not trying to offend anyone or anything but in all honesty you will much happier with higher quality gyro and tail servo such as the 9256, 9257 or JR DS3400.

I really support this idea, dont miss cheap with your electronic, maybe the batteries, or engine, but not electronic, is the life of your bird,
Take care of your investment.
When your have planes your invest in engine and electronic, in helis invest in electronic, and good mechanics parts.

I have the same problem with my heli in floor everything looks ok but in air it whas a little unmanaged, i'm focused in config of gyro in radio REMEMBER in head lock gyro you have to watch out the electronic gain.

Yes, I had planes, I know what you mean, but what do you mean, i'm focused in config of gyro "in radio"? ???REMEMBER in head lock gyro you have to watch out the electronic gain.?? Please explain a little further?? Doesn't the radio set electronic gain?
