My name is Wayne, I live in the East Anglian region of the UK Smack bang on the middle of Cambridgeshire
I've been reading the messages here for sometime and in the mean time I've been flying the great little BCX2 plus in the last week after 118 hours of Phoenix sim practice I've now flown my Trex 450XL with the CCPM conversion 19 times without a single crash.
I've been doing tail in forward, reverse & side to side flying, and now I'm flying her sideways back and forth while turning the nose 180 so she's flying nose forward everytime.
And I was having huge fun until yesterday.
My other half I think while on the sim accidentally erased my 450 settings in my DX6, and to say I haven't a clue where to start is an understatement, it's further complicated by the CCPM conversion which is a total mystery as to the percentages and mixing that needs to be done for safe flight.
A friend programmed it for me ages back but he's away right now, so I', asking you guys, can you possibly please help me, is there a video instruction download her saying what to do or is it easier then it looks, as apart from some simple sub trimming the rest is way over my head at the moment.
Many thanks to anyone who can help this Green rookie out, it's a beaut' day here in the UK and my heli sits here with the rotas off.
Many thanks
Wayne :o

Good job on your first round of flights. You'll actually appreciate your first few crashes as they teach you a lot about how the heli and radio works and how to set it up.
To start with, the videos in Finless Bob's Helifreak Tech Room are a huge advantage to somebody just starting out and looking for the answers you're asking.

I'm not really familiar with the DX6, but take a look at this video for the DX7 on how to set it up. I imagine it is very similar and should help a lot.

Many thanks for the welcome, and information.
I can tail in and swing her about sideways comfortably and having huge amounts for fun to boot, then my wife accidentally erased my settings and I was about to learn about the mixing values etc.
Again many thanks for the kind offers of advise and help.

I haven't done any changes to the D/R AI0 or D/R ELO which are set at 100%
I have the Ail trv adj at -80%
ELE trv adj at -80
RUD trv adj at +80
GER trv adj at +45
PIT trvadj at -75%
THR trvadj at 90%
HLD at -5%
PLN 35%
P2N 50%
PHN 100%
PLS 0%
P2S 50%
PHS 100%
PHH100%
PLH 0%
P5H 50%
THN 100%
TLN 0%
T2N 65%
(but the instructions says it should be)
TLS 100%
T2S 80%
THS 100%
Not sure where i've gone wrong there?
Mix R/IU 0%
Mix R/ID 0%
Mix R.IU 0%
Mix A23 0%
Mix A23 (offset) 0%
Mix Ach 23
Mix ASW - ON
CCP On
Mix CP2 +55%
Mix CP3 +55%
Mix CP6 +60%
THR Norm
AIL Rev
ELE rev
RUD Norm
GER norm
PIT norm
Can anyone please say where I have gone wrong at all.
OK I now have Rudder control, all that's messed up now if the alerion which is REV, and as I said before when I Norm it messes the mix up with the three servo's
All the throttle curves are OK apart from the last one on the list which is THS 100% and my TX is showing T2S 80% I'm having trouble changing that to THS for some reason?
Correction the THS is completely missing from that block of three settings?
Thanks all for any advice you can offer.:o

Just for the record I've just done a test spool up and its was a total failure she spun uncontrollably, everythings back to front and she flys no better than when I found all the settings cocked up yesterday.
Dam it!

I lost all the setting on the blade 400. I finally downloaded the factory settings and re-set it step by step.
My mistake was the swashplate mixing
it should be 75/ -75 and 100 -if I remember correctly
I didnt the negative value causing the confusion.
Also dont forget to set it to 120 degree rather that 90 degree mixing.
Check if the servos move the right way when you push the sticks at throttle hold.
You might have to set them on reverse on the Transmitter.
Good luck

If the heli spun uncontrollably when you fired it up, reverse your rudder channel.
As for everything else, you basically need to make sure that when everything's on and the sticks are at neutral, the swash is level and the servo arms are at 90 degrees. Then make sure they move the swash correctly. The videos show this well.
This should at least get you in the air. My experience with the DX7 is that when the heli is set up properly in the mechanical sense, very little adjustment is needed at the radio. I wouldn't think the DX6 is too different in this regard. You may have to tweak your endpoints a bit if you've got interactions at full throw, but getting everything set up initially should at least get you hovering.
Personally, I'd take this opportunity to verify the mechanical setup of the heli too. Basically start from sratch. Make sure all the links are set to factory spec lengths etc. Call me crazy, but I do this once a year on mine.
