Man what a piece of crap, I was hovering yesterday and all the sudden the heli went into a severe shake it was so bad it broke the tail boom before i could get it down, luckily i saved it, with only a broken tail boom, but as i bought it second hand the tailboom was glued in, now i have to replace the mainframe and tailboom i wished the thing had went into a million pieces and put me out of my misory. any blade lover have a helimax axe they want to trade for it. I have gobbs of new parts for it. Im just tired of messing with it. Has anybody had the bad shake problem and if so what do you think caused it? Wish i had kept my axe, i got hundreds of flights out of it.

Thanks just venting a little.

Heli24,
Sorry to hear about your experience. Depending on how much CA was used to keep the tail boom to mainframe, you can apply some CA uncure to the location and wait a few moments, to let it do it's business, and then grab hold of the boom and twist it out. Some of my removals required getting a hold of the boom with soft grip pliers (robo-grips) and doing a twisting motion back and forth. I've had pretty good success this way and in 25 rebuilds, have only had to replace the mainframe once! I don't know what Xmit/receiver set-up you are useing, but the shakes you desribed sounds like interferrence glitching. I used to get that often when useing 72mhz, not real violent, but enough to wreak havoc on trying to fly. I now use 2.4 Ghz and have not encountered any glitches. Could possibly be the 3 or 4 in one going bad though, so I've heard...Good luck!

Just a thought but did you shead part of a blade? Before I discovered plastic blades, I flew some damaged balsa blades and once experienced violent shaking when they became out of balance.

You can take a drill bit the same diameter as the boom and drill it out, works great.

i found de-bonder actually eats up and softens the tailboom, i think its fiberglass.
