Re: aileron and pitch servos? Which is which?

I'm ready to do the final servo build on my Gaui 550.

1. I must be real dumb but I cannot find out from any docs anywhere which servo is which.

With the nose facing the left,, what is the servo on the elevator side? Aileron or pitch?

2. Also, I have an 7.4V 850MA LiPo that I would like to use for the BEC. Is this capable enough or do I need a larger battery? What do you recommend?

TIA,
Chet

elevator is the rear servo and the other two are interchangeable
The battery is a little small mah wise you may need to charge more regularly

On the aileron and pit servo, just get them working oposite direction (rev or norm servo travel) when you move left and right aileron, then make them work for correct flight direction by +60 or -60 on the swash mix. Next step is the check the elevator direction. It should tilt the swash forward or back wards. If they all go up and down on forward and back movement then rev the elevator. If its going the wrong direction either put in +60 or -60 on the elevator swash mix. Last step is collective, +60 or -60 sets the direction of the swash up and down movement. Took me a long time to figure this out, good luck!

before you go into your swash menu to change settings you get all the servos working the same way in union with one another by using the servo reversing screens. Only when you get them moving together then you go to the swash menu and then revese their directions based on what vicrc said. I believe this is how fineless shows in his vids.

I am using a DX7.

I get all confused when making all 3 servos work correctly, so I start on Ail and Pit first and no matter how messed up the programmings get it works out in the end.

Awhile back I programmed my Multiplex Evo12 to fly my Blade CP. So much better than that stock radio. Interesting about that radio is it has +120 degree or -120 degree swash programming.

Rear servo plugs into elevator. Front two plug into Pitch (Aux1) and Aileron.

Move the left stick (Mode 2 Tx) up an down. If all three servos move in the same direction great move on. If not, to the Servo Reverse screen and reverse the one that is moving opposite to the either two. Now they all move together. DO NOT TOUCH THE SERVO REVERSE AGAIN.

Now, look at the direction they move. If they move up with up stick great. If not, go to the Swaash Menu screen and invert the Pitch Swash setting, from +50 to =50 (or +60 to -60, whatever is defualt for your Tx).

Now go to the right stick. Move it up and down. When you move teh stick to teh top, the swash should tilt forward. If not, invert the Elevator fucntion in the Swash Menu like you did the Pitch.

Now move the right stick left and right. The swash should tilt the same way, left for left stick, right for right stick. If not, invert the Aileron function in the Swash menu.

Advanced setup. Once you get them moving up and down together, check the Pitch, Elevator and Aileron movement, if they are all backwards, reverse all three servos, from where they are for the servos to move together, for a quicker setup.

Pincone.....

Nice explanation !! The manual has absolutely nothing about where to connect the servos...I'm surprised the DX7 has a nice explanation.

Page 75 in the DX7 manual shows which servo to which channel. Either look at the DX7 or download the man....

for the 120 deg swash....the elevator is chan #3....right side chan #2 and left side is chan #6.

I'm sure you can manipulate swash and servo settings to get anything to work, but it was easy setting mine up the way it was in the manual....
