A YS 91 with a Hatori SB-19 is an awesome combo.

I hope Thunder Tiger gives us their new engine soon, it sounds like it could be a monster.

@David

I realize the benefit of th omi regulator... but isn't that not just what the pumped and OS regulated 91 Engine is for ?

Secondly...if you do the cline mod... you'll end up with "only" a regulated engine... but not pumped right ?

Sorry... but i don't get why nobody likes the pumped os engine :-)

I think it is because people have said that they had the pump explode inflight so people want to steer clear of that.

A pumped engine the pump has to pump fuel from the tank to the carb.

An engine using a regulator system. The fuel tank is pressurized by the engine from crankcase pressure. The regulator just controls the fuel flow to the carb. Most pressurized fuel systems the fuel tank has 3-4 psi of pressure on it at all times. Take a fuel line off a pressurized fuel tank and fuel will shoot 5-10 feet.

Big difference in an engine that uses a pump and one that uses crankcase pressure and a regulator.

The Cspec I have now. They used Cline systems when I first got them. Then I made them Cspecs with pump. I used the OS conversion kits to put pumps on them. They are now back as Cline systems. The Cline and crankcase pressure are more consistent.

I don't understand what is the issue with the 91 SZ with the pump & regulator.
I have 2 of these engines for almost about half a year and they both work great, never had any issue with the pump or regulator, nothing special about tuning them.
Lot's of flyers here in Israel also fly with the pumped version, and no one ever had any problem.

Os is coming soon with a new 91hz according to Bobby Watts...

Who knows more about that engine, there are some vague images but no specs

I think the main difference between the pumped and the non-pumped is just pilot preference and also the pumped has more hardware to run.

I'm just wondering if all you guys are that great pilots (Szabo-like to speak) that you all can feel the difference between the power of the YS and OS engines and that you all need just that last drop of power coming out of the engine. I doubt it, but hey, that's just me.

I think it all comes down to personal preference and experience.

The new OS motor is due out end of August in the US. It was added to the ordering list today. They also discontinued the non pumped OS91 and are just selling off whats left.

I think the whole F3C thing was brought up on another forum and they said its the same classification for a 3D motor. They said that all of the previous motors were advertised as F3C motors for some reason

For those that are getting an OS non-pumped... why? What are the pro's and con's of pumped vs non-pumped?

I woud have the same question. I am new to in the smoke section, but interested in buying one.
