So yeah... I'm gonna buy a 700 when they come out and I've never owned a .90 before.
So whats the best .90 sized engine and pipe combo?
Thanks :D

Personally I'm going OS. (Freya, not T700) There may be better engines out there but who else warranties them for 3 years? I holed one of their .30's in my Savage (ultra lean state of tune and 30% nitro makes motor go BOOM) and they replaced it, out of warranty mind you, at one quarter the cost of new.
Not only that but they're not finicky and once setup hold their tune pretty well.

I am going OS .91 SZ non-pumped and am going to use a carb smart to control the needle. Pipe will be a Hatori SB made for the OS. Big thanks to GrandRC.com for the deal on this stuff! Videos coming soon :)

combo I'm using except for the pipe
I have funtech that I'm going to try.
I also may give a YS 91ST and Hatori SB16 a try if I get the deal I want on them and build a 2nd 90 sized heli. Expecting to make slightly less power, but with less hassle

We will see soon the new TT 1.06.
I will use O.S. 91SZ-H with pump and regulator, Viper head and Funtech A385 muffler (worked great on my Vibe 90)

For those that are getting an OS non-pumped... why? What are the pro's and con's of pumped vs non-pumped?

I am going with the YS 91SR long stroke and the Hatori SB-19 long stroke pipe. Should give some awesome power, and its pumped.

I have a YS91 ST on my Stratus and have an OS91 SZ non-pumped. I have an MP5 waiting for it. These were items that I was going to put on my Aurora but they'll make it to the 700.

YS 91 SR with an MP5 to start with. Then I'll probably be trying the new Align pipe

aaaarrrrghh.....
i can't decide on which engine to get... and i can't wait for new engines to show up "soon" either !!
os 91sz non pumped:
looking at the pictures of the tests in taiwan all 91sz where modified with that cline regulator thing... so i'm curious if this is the way to go.... or just to stick with the non modified version.
os91sz with pump:
one guy in the tests in taiwan had the pumped version of the os motor.... but i've read that it's hard to tune... and i've never had a pumped 90 engine with middle needle either!
ys 91:
seems like the way to go if i read the various posts here.... but i don't know... for me the engine just looks some kind of cheap and weak.... i've also read somewhere... that the engine runs better at a lower rpm... and i definitely would like to keep my 2050 head speed ! :Bang
i'm just buying parts for the t700 and it's going to be a "best of everything" kind of setup !!! :smokin:
freaks.... please hook me up.... which engine should i get ?

The issue with the pumped os is that every engine runs differently. Some requires muffler pressure to run right, most work fine w/o. Even with the same setups, the needle settings can differ a lot from engine to engine.
The non pumped os works, but imo, there will always be a bit of leaning out as the tank empties with a non regulated/pumped system. Probably not an issue if you run it slightly rich at the start of a tank or install a carbsmart.
Yes, I agree that the ys looks cheap. The casting of the crank case is not quite as good as OS or even TT, the heatsink has got sharp and unfinished edges. Its supposedly the lightest and most powerful though.
2050rpm is way too high for a 90. You want to keep the engine around 15500rpm or below.
My choice.

Will the mp5 fit by the canopy without mod?

WHO KNOWS! I saw a 700 with MP5 but did not ask if mods were needed.... No one will know the answer for about a week...

something some of you guys aren't considering when you say you are going to run ys with the align 90 pipe. I made the same mistake I was planning on running the YS with the align pipe until I talked to my local align rep, he said that the align pipe is not tuned for the YS so I would need a hatori or MP pipe. he said that it would work, but would not produce optimum power, and be less powerfull than the the os with the align pipe.
so unless align makes a pipe tuned for the ys you might have to go with an expensive hatori to get the power you want.

So is that YS really that powerfull/great compared to the two os 91 engines ?
(i'm still trying to find a reason to convince me for the ys engine :-) )

its cheaper :D

okay.... that's an argument, but it's only about $60 cheaper compared to the pumped version of the os engine.
Why is it... that nobody likes the os pumped version ? i mean.. it can't be the price... because the non pumped version of the os with a cline regulator is way more expensive (around $140) compared to the pumped version.
Is there something i don't know ?

OS 91 SZ Hyper with pump $399.99
OS 91 SZ H $349.99
Cline installed by OMI $75
OS 91SZH with Cline installed $425.
I would go the Cline route.
YS makes a good engine. Just availabilty of engines and parts can be hard to find at times.

Perhaps someone can point me in the correct direction.
What are the advantages/disadvantages of running pumped vs non-pumped. Is it just personal preference?
I will the buying a 700, but I have no idea regarding which engine to choose.... would rather make an informed discison instead of following the flock and just buying a YS.
Thanks guy

@Bolders:
that's exactly what i would like to say/ask
@DavidH:
so why does readyheli sale the cline reg. WITH the complete carburator only ? ($200)
What is wrong with the pumped version of the OS Engine ? or what do i gain if i go the non-pumped cline route ?
thanks guys

The carb costs about $125, the Cline costs $75 dollars installed. So they send the carbs to OMI and have the Cline installed and sell them. Some people just rather buy a carb ready to go than take the carb they have and send it to OMI to have the Cline installed.
It is $75 for OMI to install the Cline, if you already have a carb, that is the way to go.
What the Cline regulator will give you is a consistent fuel feed to the carb. OMI also modifys the carb to obtain max fuel flow if it needs it.
