My first post here, I thought I'd introduce myself.

I'm a new Heli flier and know less than zero about them. I'm learning on a Blade 400 3d, so far I've crashed it once with minor damage. I had the fore sight to buy the G4 sim and learned alot from that before I tried the Blade.

I've had the Heli now about 3 weeks and can hover and do some forward/backward/sideways flight. The only crash so far was during a time I got brave and tried to do a rudder spin from about 30' and the Heli went 540 degrees and started a fast forward nose down flight and I recovered it at about 5' but over corrected it and stood it on it's tail. Well from there I didn't add enough collective and slide it backwards into the ground and broke the skid supports, stripped two sets of servo gears and bent the main shaft. Not all bad and I had it fixed in about 30 minutes. I had the good sense (If there is such a thing in Heli's) to order a box full of replacement parts at the beginning. :banana

I fly almost everyday after work 2-3 packs worth. I've picked up a newused Air Skipper 50 and a 9303 Heli radio. I'm installing JR4721 servo's in it as soon as my order for replacement parts that were missing get here. I've been reviewing the manual for the AS50 and see a few things the builder appears to have done wrong. Minor things to be sure but all I know is what the manual says to do so that's where I'm going.

As with all new Heli pilots I have trouble understanding a lot of the posts and lingo as I've no clue what they're talking about. I spent the weekend looking at Bob's video's and can say they were of enormous help.

I tried Heli's in the late 80's and had a Mantis (IIRC) from Mike Mas. It didn't have a gyro or a heli radio and I never did manage to fly it for more than a few scary seconds at a time and finally sold it.

I've made more progress in 3 weeks than I did in 6 months the first time. The sim is the PERFECT thing to start with.

I might ask if there could be, or maybe there already is, a sticky for terms and drawings/pictures of the lingo for us newbies.

Thanks for your time

PS If you have any automotive questions I might be able to help.
