I have found a heli sim that works in mac OSX. It is not the best simulator for realism but is very good for practicing and getting muscle memory for the multiple axis in heli flight. Let me know what you guys think. Link:

... you might want to try HELI-X which runs on Mac OS-X (besides on Windows and Linux): http://www.heli-x.net/news2008-05-06_e.shtml

Well, it runs on *some* Macs, namely those with Intel Core 2 Duo processors. It requires the Java 6 virtual machine, which doesn't run on Core Duo Macs. Unfortunately, my MacBook Pro has a Core Duo.

Yes, that is right. Today it is not planned, to make HELI-X compatible to Java 1.5 for the "older" Macs. As far as I know, Apple's support to Java 1.5 is also limited ...
Sorry for that.

Not unless Apple can create a 1.6 virtual machine that will run on Core Duos. Does anybody know if there's some technical reason that it's so difficult?

Hm. On my Dual Core 64bit machine, Heli-X runs on the 1.5JVM, but NOT the 1.6. So the opposite of what is stated. With the 1.6 VM (which is 64 bit; 1.5 is 32/64) I get a linkage error in a JDI library for OpenGL.

I believe Apple is just obsoleting old machines by not developing new software. I have both a PPC G5 and Core (1) Duo Mac and neither received the Java 1.6 update the C2D-based computers did.

I have a Intel Core 2 Duo Macbook running 10.4.11 (tiger not leopard) and have unzipped the download, but do not see anything as a install folder. I followed the "Read Me" instructions and clicked the terminal file, but I still got nothing. Wondering if its for 10.5 and higher only? If so I was confused by the Mac OS X 10.5.....which usually means compatible with OSX and 10.5.

Any Help would be awesome.

Hello,

yes, it is for Mac OS-X 10.5 or higher and you need the correct Java update. On http://forum.heli-x.info you can find several mac users of HELI-X.
