hey guys i have been flying my blade 400 for about 3 or 4 months and i just recently made another discovery for myself that i was wanting to share. Ok so i upgrades all my servos to JR ds285's which if you don't upgrade them to the metals gears they are basically no better than what you have, but if you do upgrade to metal gears you will be bulletproof, i believe i have put 4 crashes on my new metal geared servos and not one problem with them. So i definetell recommend the JR ds285's with metal gears, on the tail servo i had the 3400g on my tail and i wouldn't getting much hold, like 65%. anyway i decided to put the original tail servo back on and moved my linkage one hole in from its original spot and now im getting like 75% to 80% hold!!! SO anyway here you guys, i think this is some good knowledge that has probally been said a 100 times on these forums but i just wanted to tell everyone my experience.

your getting better hold on the stock tail servo than a 3400G? Whats wrong with that picture? My tail is ROCK SOLID with the 3400G. Perhaps you are still using the stock gyro, that would explain it.

Good point !

I am fixing one for a friend and am having trouble w/ the tail as well and the servo not centering, moving it closer to servo center would change the throw allowing more travel and adjustment. I'm going to go try that right now. :clappp

I don't own a Blade 400 but this is the 3rd one I have set up for a friend. If you know how to set up the gyro it holds very well (not like a 401 or a 2100) but very good. The first one I did I burned up the tail servo because the RTF set-up people didn't adjust the ATV's on it. They had 90% both directions actualy only needed 39% and 42% to get full throw. RTF my A$$!

yes the tail held pretty well on mine, but I could not get a locked feeling with the 3400G either until I upgraded the gyro to a 401 (you can set limits) and the two combined is so solid, I'm not sure its possible to get any more stable.

I have the same set-up on my 450v2 and love it, but that's 2/3's the cost of the Blade 400 when you exclude the radio.

I've got this one as good as I can get it w/ the stock servo. We put the DSP60 on another one and set the gyro to digital mode and it held great! :DHThe E-flight servo's just don't return to center.

As for moving the ball closer to servo center, it allowed me alot more gain on the radio in HH.

ATV on a gyro increases or decreases its piro rate, has nothing to do with how far the servo will throw. to mechanically set the limit on a gyro with no limit setting you need to move the linkage in or out from the middle of the servo horn.
