HELP, after repairing my heli., (from a crash), I went thru the set up on all three servos and setting the swash, etc., etc., (and I followed Sokals videos to a Tee).
When I reset all my sub trims to 0, I think I lost my increase in rpm's when I switch to idle up........is this possible? While in a steady hover, you can hear a slight increase when flipping the switch, but its not like it was prior. HELP

how was it prior and what are your settings then and now?

when I flip the switch - its like its broke there is no difference but thats due to my normal settings are so high.

well, this is where I lose it, knowledge wise. I don't know what they are now or what they were prior (settings). But right out of the box (at factory set up), the stunt mode almost doubled the rpms, at least this is what it sounded like. I've read and read the books and can't learn how to set it up. I have the recommended settings written down, but don't know how to program.

push the roller bar then scroll down to thro curve and select from there you can check/change setting norm/idle up/hold

so, is this what you think it is? I lost some settings some how? Or is it the sign of something else, like a bad ESC? One time tonight, I had no power at throttle up, almost like a loose batt. connection. Looked the heli. over and all was normal..............:dontknow

norm < pos 3

stunt

hold 50.0%

This is what I see when I select throttle curve (w/switch in normal mode) And there is a gragh on the right hand side of the display.

HIghlite norm and select it see all its values same for stunt and hold

Man, do I feel stupid now, don't know why I couldn't figure this out.........

NORMAL THROTTLE:

0%,25%,50%,75%,100%

STUNT THROTTLE: 100%,92.5%85%,92.5%,100%

Something is wrong there then......that thing should go wild when you flip the switch. what are your pitch curves set at?

Basic rule of thumb you want the top 3 settings to match so you dont have too much of a jerk when flipping the switch.

jimzpsd

Pitch at normal: 35%, 42%, 50%, 75%, 100%

Pitch at stunt: 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%

LockMD

Pitch at normal: 35%, 42%, 50%, 75%, 100%

Pitch at stunt: 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%

still you should hear a noticeable diff with those throttle settings, maybe someone with more knowledge will chime in......

all 3 of my pitch curves are linear

norm throttle 60-80-80-90-100
stunt throttle 100-90-80-90-100

my stunt switch feels like its broke I can flip it all day long and dont notice a thing.....now if I go inverted I am sure the difference will be life or death :)

You know,....................now that I have a better understanding of the Tx, etc., etc., maybe its just me. I just held the heli. on a tight grip out in front of me and throttled up to mid stick and it does increase in rpm's when I flip to stunt. Maybe I'm just so paranoid of crashing again that I'm not tuning in 100%,....hence, crashing.:YeaBaby: but thanks a lot for the "101" on thrt./ptch. adjusting. Btw, is there a big plus by switching over to Dean's connectors?

they are just more common is all.....so you dont have to keep converting your batts to match the heli......also when I converted the heli to deans I made the wire a tad longer so I can hook/unhook the batt with the canopy still on.

And yet, another good point,...................thanks so much for your help and time.

Hey here's another tip, mount the battery backwards with the wires next to the motor instead of facing forward and you can disconnect the battery with the canopy on.

Hey Lock a question why do you have your normal throttle curve starting at 60?
not a good idea in my opinion.... also set your throttle curve low point to 0 in normal mode. throttle it up to 0 pitch (i.e. don't lift off) then hit the idle up, start to go negative pitch, if the throttle drops then it aint working, it the motor speeds up and the rotor starts sucking air upwards, then its in idle up.

Very windy - with having 0 - even tried 40 - its too light trying to come down from a punch and have control issues - with 60 its pretty solid the enitre time.......but I dont fly in normal anymore. I start and end in idle up mode. the only time my idle up switch is not in idle up is when I turn on the tx.

I noticed after my rebuild the heli wasn't as loud. I followed Sokal's build too. All I know is after the build my heli flys better than stock and by my judgment not as loud.

You probably have your pitch set up better.

can we get another kudos for SOKAL

fair enough, when it's windy I usually resort to figure 8s with the nose diving on each forward run, usually gets her down pretty quick fun too if you throw in a couple of piros aswell when coming down.

New guy question here, be warned.... Wouldn't having your normal throttle curve start at anything over than 0 make the blades spool up with the collective/throttle stick all the way down? If I am reading what said right about your throttle curve then does that mean you have to have throttle hold on when you plug in the battery to avoid the blades spooling up immediately?

Thanks. :)

Yes you are correct throttle hold on until ready to fly.

Thankya! And I suppose if you accidentally have throttle hold OFF when you plug the battery in, the ESC will simply not initialise? I would hope it would do that rather than instantly spin up the blades :D

Correct again the esc will not
