Hey D,

Is this the $99 EXI you've mentioned.

http://www.xheli.com/exi-450-arf-rc-helicopter.html

Just like with the Lama's, I always have this urge to tinker, modify and upgrade!

You guys thinking of upgrading to a CNC Head or have had a crash worth about $60...you'd be nuts to not go the distance and buy that EXI and transfer your electronics over.

The T-rex style head is all the difference in the world compared to the stock belt, or even the sloppy cnc Esky upgrade. Buy the EXI...get your foot in the door. If you break something...oh well, buy a Align replacement part (they are cheaper than Belt CP in most cases anyway) crash it enough times and you will have a full blown T-Rex SE V2.

I'm not trying to sound snobbish now that I'm 'on the other side of the fence'...just trying to give you guys some good advice. Stop dumping money into your Belt when there is something SO much better out there available to you in the form of a $99 EXI.

That had crossed my mind too Brian. $100, I have all the radio stuff, so I guess the only extras would be a motor, and ESC.

Mike,

That sucks about the shipping...ok...bad idea in that regard...lol.

As far as a motor/esc goes...put the same esc/motor in thats in your belt. It'll work for now anyway. Or..send me $80 and you can have my 430XL and Align ESC because now I want to buy the scorpion 45A esc and -8 motor...which Dier recommended

...which I could have put in an EXI and been just as happy...

...which Dier recommended...

...and ran it with my spektrum DX7 which Dier rec...oh wait...never mind...he's still wrong there.

the EXI is about £85 to the UK, BUT its still a fantastic deal. I have crashed mine quite a few times now and after spending a few pound here and there its now got a full trex SE V2 head and most the trex tail, scoprion motor/speed controllers are also cheap - and if your going the scorpion route let me know as i may have a spare brand new one for sale very soon.
The EXI/T-rex is so much better than a belt cp though

Grant...dibs on the -8 if the price is right.

I'm looking at the -8/45A commander combo from readyheli for $99, free shipping. That'll be tough to beat.

I'll check postage, but postage to you from the UK might majorly bump that price up :(
I have to let them know which one to send me, as its the replacement plus 50% cost for my other motor so i can get any scorpion, so if someone is interested in a different one (HK2213-14 maybe? or -6?)

Grant...yeah..it'll be tough. The 45A commander is $59. So the motor would have to be $40 shipped or less to be any sort of a 'deal'. Thanks though.

I think this is the first time that anything I ordered actually shipped from here. (The US)

I just ordered the $99 EXI and shipping was $11. Pretty hard to beat $112 for a Trex clone!

I think shipping would be near the $40 mark:thumbdown:.
Great choice on the EXI, if your looking for a new motor, as i've said before just get the scorpion motor and ESC. It cost me £60 in the UK to get the HK2213-14 motor and commandor 35A esc including shipping. If you get to the point where you need serious power and upgrade to a bigger scorpion like the -8 this ESC will still run it and stay very cool.

It would be $72 from xheli, cos I went right through their ordering process!!!!!!!!!!!

..but my plan would be to get the EXI and initially transfer any of the bits required from my belt onto it [motor, ESC, sg91s, AR6200]. Hate having to pay the $72 shipping, so when i am back at work, will get one on my next States visit, prob mid to late june [I hope!!!!!!!].

Has anyone ever tried figuring out the cost via usps from the US to the UK?? I am sure its much cheaper than 72 bucks.

Then just about any one of us can buy it for you (by you sending them paypal money) and then they shipping it to you when it arrives at theirs.

Or do like i do..

What i have is a freight forwarder in Miami, i send all my stuff there and they have a Tri-weekly flight to St.Maarten that they bring all the loose cargo for, i pay a small monthly fee for the mailbox.

I am sure there is something like that for the UK, you just have to ask around...... I guess search Google for UK USA Mailbox... That way you can just ship your items to that mailbox (Cheap) and then pay the small charge they charge you for bringing the stuff over.

In all my Exi cost me 99 bucks plus 7 dollars shipping to miami, and then 18 dollars shipping form Mimai to ST.Maarten... total of $124..... But that 18 dollars Miami to St. Maarten also had in stuff from other suppliers (consolodated)..

Dunno worth a look into..

..on fleabay, they come from US too, $149 the copter, and a cool $89 shipping with UPS Priority!!!!!!!!!

helihathnofury

.. you know, Wolfie, you are so correct about the quality of the pEsky CNC head and tail. They are about as bad as the plastic ones!!!!! I cannot believe how often I have to re-threadlock the bolts, balls etc. The tail is even worse than the head IMHO, and that is saying something. The 2 chrome colored bearings supporting the spindle keep popping out, and I have resorted to super-glueing them in!!!!! In the short time I have had experience of these supposed upgrades, I would NOT recommend them to anyone. Get a Trex tail, and either the head from either copterx or CNC from xheli.

Keep it up [I know you do!!!!!!!!] with all the advice, for our sake!!!!!!!!!!

A very frustrated Mike!!!!!!!!!!
