The SB 17 does not know which engine it was designed to be used on.
OS = .91 cubic inches YS = .91 cubic inches.

As long as the mounting flange on the muffler will work on both engines, that is all that matters. Both engines are the same size in bore and stroke.

It just so happens that Jason was using an OS 91 when he was working with Hatori on the muffler.

my ys 91 does not have viper head. what gear ratio would work best. ive used 8.45 with the mp2 and i worked pretty good. ive got all the gear ratios in my box i guess i could play with all of them and find the one i like best. ive used 8.18 on my ys and didnt seem to like in real heavy 3d.

Unless your really proficient at finessing the cyclic and collective inputs. 8.45 is going to be the ratio you will need to use for 3D flying with the YS 91. Do not get the rotor head above 1850 rpm with the 8.45 ratio. I would suggest staying in the 1750 to 1800 range with 8.45 to keep the motor operating in its power band.

yeah i made the mistake of running 1850 on 8.45 at first but luckly i didnt burn my engine up. my ys has been a good motor ive flown it about 10 flights a weekend for 2 years and havent even needed replace the bearings yet. thanks for the info guys. i might strap in the stratues this weekend
