View Full Version : My first real crash/boom strike

Many people have asked if cnc is worth the investment, I have to say that is an unequivocal YES!
The thing landed on it's head whilst flying inverted (some stupid kid started screaming, got distracted and that was all she wrote).
All I needed to replace was a ball link on the head, main gear, boom and tail shaft.
Quite amazing really, as when it crashed due to servo failure when I first got it, the plastic head basically self destructed.
Note: even the frp blades were fine, except a few chips to the gel coat.

OUCH!! how in the heck did you bend the boom like that, did it land tail down?

Sorry to hear of your crash. Glad to hear the aluminum held up like it did.

The boom bent like that as a result of the blade striking the boom (note I'm using 335mm blades), the extra length increases stability, but also increases the risk of boom strike during hard 3D maneuvers, seeing as I am no stick banger this is a non issue.
oh yeah I got the head from ehirobo (copterx head $60usd and tail $25usd)

does the tail have the dimples to fit the holes in the boom?

no, but it does have a clamp style screw/nut on one side, seems to hold very well without using any ca glue, but could always be used just in case. IMHO its not an issue as I tried pulling the casing off by hand without the belt on and the boom came out of the body before the tail came off

So you're saying copterX parts fit this bird too?
