I am using two of the Kong 25C packs that I fly the 450 with on my 500. I have my timer on 5 minutes with just hover and basic FF. Any suggestions on flight time would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hello Magic Hook.

I run the Thunder Power 6S I have the timer set at 4:30. I am doing mostly beginner 3D FFF, rolls, loops and some collective pumping like tic tocs” very sloppy” and half pirroflips, way up high! And working on some hi speed reward flight right side up. I’m still trying to perfect the knee wobbling nose in stuff. Getting better every day!

Were do you fly in the sun shine state? Your handle makes it sound like you are from Orlando?

LOL, Magic Hook is the name of our charter boat. I fly in Naples, at my house. So far its mostly hovering and slow ff. Working a lot on side in trying to get the testicles for nose in. Have not tried idle up yet, but will soon. I dont want to push the packs to far.

I log everything. Some people do, some don't. . . .

15 series flights on the 500, and I don't really use them for this heli anymore. Strict math showed (and I'm approximating for 4 total 3s batteries and math easiness) 5.7 minutes of flight time. The four batteries average between 304 and 310mAh per minute put back into each battery. That is where I get my 5.7 min with 80% rule assumed.

I run a 5 minute timer on the DX7 and never go past it. Simple sport flying with rolls, flips, loops, etc. I don't use these batts on the 500 anymore because I've got 4 x 6s batteries now and the 2xKongs started feeling week in comparison. Each battery has about thirty cycles on them.

May be an interesting comparison: 450 usage compared to 500, same flying style. 450 single battery burns avg 290mAh per min vs. 307 per min for the two batteries on the 500. Almost the same. . . .

Anyways, there it is.

Drew,

Thanks for that info sounds like you have it down to a science. What charger do you use for the 6S batteries? Also, do you use the stock ESC?

With the small pinion that comes with the 500 I get 5 min 10 sec and put back 80% or slightly less. my flying is mostly fff, iff, loops, rolls, funnels

I fly with Thunder Power Extreme 6S 2200mah and Flight Power Evo 25 6S 2170mah packs.

My timer is set to 4:40 and I take my packs to approx 3.7v per cell, putting back around 1800mah. I fly quite hard, lots of FFF, Rolls, Loops, Flips, Tic Tocks, Rainbows etc

EDIT - Am running the stock motor on 13t and usually fly in Idle-up 2 which is set to 100% flat. Although flying in Idle-up 1 I don't really notice that much of a increase in batt life, I still put roughly 1500-1600 back in. Idle-up 1 is set to: 95-90-85-80-85-90-95 ( 7-point curves on DSX9 )

This is a super Charger, I have a friend who is flying the 500 and he has twin Thunder Power 610's and likes them too! He is using the Thunder Power 2600 6S and getting 7:30 hover and FF no 3D yet. The TP 2600 6S will be my next purchase for the 500, then a torque tube when they are in stock at Ready Heli! I may buy one of the 610 chargers as well, since right now all I have is 6S batteries.
