I want to know if I can afford either the metal head block or the metal blade grips, which do I go for first ?

My thinking is to buy the metal blade grips first, since I have been told that if you run a head speed of 2000+ rpm on plastic grips, that the blades will rip out of the grips or that the grips will be ripped of the head. I am a bit worried about this. My 30 doesn't have such a high head speed, but then i have also been told that during the flare in auto's (or when doing auto's with lots of neg pitch), the head speed can rise above 2000 rpm. Is this true ?

If this is true, I figured that metal blade grips should help in those situations

The metal headblock is a thing that develops play over time. I would replace that first. Its true that you can rise the headspeed during the auto, but I wouldn't really worry about.

My flying buddy has been using plastic grips for the last three years and he runs his head speed at 2,100rpm. No problems.....yet.
