I've just acquired a used Hurricane 550 (looks really impressive next to my trex 450!).
The motor says "H/18/H" on it -- what kv rating is this? How many amps does it pull? The heli came with a 50A Gaui ESC -- is this OK?
For testing purposes (basic hovering flight, maybe some sport-type flying) I want to use 2 of my 2250 mah Loong Max 20C batts in series -- will this setup be OK? I don't want to rush out & get higher mah batts until I know it flies OK.
I can't wait to get it up in the air!

Mine flies very nicely on 2200 25C batteries, I don't know if 20C are up to the job or not - probably depends on your flying style, you may be OK for basic hovering it also depends on that motor - some eat the power more than others

Speaking of Ultrafly motors,..i've got an Ultrafly 24/11 1500w 1100KV motor here that I picked up online but have yet to try it.
Does anyone know how it would compare to the z30 1110?
If it would be similar to the z30 1110 I would swap out the other z20 on my plastic framed heli and sell both the z20A motors here or on fleabay.

the RCP H/18 11 is a very good motor if geared properly, yes it will be fine on the stock 50 amp esc. as for your packs it will be hard on them unless you set it up for gentle flying! first check what pinion you have, 13t would be recomended 14 is ok, but the 14 would be harder on your packs. I would fly it and check the temps and see how they hold up, i flew mine on evo 2500 25c and they do great, i also used some 2150's 20c and they were quite warm but would do ok if flown gently (hovering and circuits)

Thanks all for your helpful comments!
I forgot to mention what gearing/blades came with the heli. Motor pinion is 15T. I think the rest of the gears are standard (61/19/42). The blades are 500 mm woodies.
I calculate the headspeed for this setup (assuming motor is 1100 kv and using 2 3P packs in series) would be close to 2200 rpm -- a little too high for the 500 mm woods? I think I will change to a 13T pinion -- but for now is it OK to run a reduced throttle curve? (I know this is not ideal for motor efficiency, but I'm really itching to get it in the air, & the first few flights will be very mild anyway -- hovering, slow circuits, MAYBE a flip, etc)
