I have looked at the Stratus Kit manual. The bellmixer on the left side,(on the link down to the swahsplate), the Stratus is using a threaded ball with 8mm in length. On my Extreme I have a threaded ball with to balls on it(10mm). One ball is longer out and one ball is longer in, compared to the Stratus 8mm threaded ball.

I'm currently using the outer ball on my Extreme(known as 3D or Contest/Normal)
As I understand, you have to reset your collective and cyclig pitch if you make a switch on the bell mixer, so I want to ask before I use much time on my helicopter, trying out all of these settings.

Have anyone of you tryed some or all of these settings and can tell me what the difference is in flying characteristic? Except the extra pitch-range you get.

As I can se, you have these settings:
- 1:1(3D or Contest/normal)
- 1:1.3 3D only
- 1,3:1 Contest or Novice
- And the new "in between thing" on the new Stratus kit. It can be something like 1:1.15

What your looking for is the Tempest bell mixer set. 1.2.1 is what everyone is using right now.

this seems to be the best all around setup. For the 3D guys with the faster servos, Paddles and new flybar system. It's not as fast and more predictable for 3D.

Larson would know more on this or Harkey. I haven't spent much time trying and flying the other setups as these guy's have.

Hi Tommy,

The mixers are a personal preference. There are many combinations to suit individual tastes. The stratus kits are shipped with the setup recommended by the Team pilots for 3D flight. I personally am always working to help improve the machine and we are working on some new stuff with the control setup right now.

The way I set up the machine is what comes in the current kit. The bell mixers on the blade grips should be installed so the flat part is toward the blade grip. The flanged portion of the mixer should face out.

The 0109 ball (which is the ball that is the exactly half way in between the double ball approx 8mm) is the one that should go to the swash plate. The longer one is attached to the flybar side. On the new flybar carrier I am using the inside or middle position. The outside position is more stable, middle is a bit less stable, and the inside is just about the same as the current extreme setup.

Keep in mind this is the setup for a more aggressive 3D setup. The new flybar carrier allows for a very fast setup, yet very controllable and stable.

Hope that helps some.

Thank you all, for your answers.

I will try the options you suggested Eric, and may be buy the new flybar carrier.

I want a aggressive 3D setup, so this is head-on for me.

Again, thank you very much!! I don't have that much available flying-time, so I don't want to throw away that time with too much testing. If there is a "prefered" way to set it up, I'll go there
