My free copy arrived tonight!

I was just kidding....I saw the package was marked "gift from helimix" so naturally I checked for a ticking noise :YeaBaby:

Brought it in the house, starred at it for a while, dunked it in water, x-rayed it (can't be too careful)

Low and behold its a legit copy of Phoenix!

If you do not have Phoenix, I suggest you check it out, even if you have another sim. Phoenix is in a class by itself.

I downloaded their demo and it was only a video of a heli. They should have an operational demo for people to try out prior to purchase. It looks nice but most of the local hobby shops around our area here only sell the RealFlight software.

As reference we have some fairly nice systems here at my office and the RealFlight version plays at full resolution/size and on the Pheonix version I had to play the demo at a lower resolution. System specs.

Intel core 2 duo 2.33 GHz
Video card ATI HD 2400 XT 256Mb
Ram 2Gb

The demo isn't a video. Its actually the real sim with the controls preprogrammed, its good for telling if your computer can handle the sim. Phoenix is alot less resource intensive than G3.5/G4. Considering Phoenix uses your own controller how would you suggest the demo work ? A demo using the keyboard is completely useless as it doesn't provide you with any useful comparisons.

Darkhawk, yes, there is not a US dist yet, but it only takes four days to get it from England at the cost of $5.00 US for shipping. Cannot beat that. I spent less on Phoenix than any of the sims I could have picked up locally, including the shipping.

I tried the demos of them all, including shareware sims. To me, Phoenix tops them all. Add a TeamSpeak server in there and you have the mac daddy online flying club. ;)

Oh yeah! That's right.

Where the heck is my 600? Make sure you ship it to my work address. Also, PM me with a tracking number as soon as you have it. ;)

I've got RF 3.5 (I think that's the version I have) but not the latest! I'm seriously going to think heavy and will probably just end up with Phoenix just because it comes highly suggested here and may get to fly online with you guys!

Add a TeamSpeak server in there and you have the mac daddy online flying club. ;) What is a "TeamSpeak" server and what the heck do I do with it?

HeliMix

Sure Al, you can fly with us. There is a membership fee that must be paid to ME in cash to fly with us (how much does a 600 cost?). :YeaBaby: Joking of course.

TeamSpeak is a voice over net program that is a separate piece of software used by primarily gamers to communicate over the net while gaming. In our case, we can talk while flying. It is better than having to type chat in a chat window. It is a free program and you do need a mic. You can learn more about TeamSpeak at their website. (http://www.goteamspeak.com/)

The TeamSpeak server we are speaking of is hosted by a Delaware flying club and is tied in with the Phoenix Social Group. I do not control access to this server. To find out more about it, you can go to the Phoenix Social Group here on HF . (http://www.helifreak.com/group.php?groupid=34)

So far, anyone I have talked to about Phoenix that has owned one of the other sims... They all have said that Phoenix is by far the best sim out there.

For us Blade owners what makes Phoenix nice is there is a good B400 model in it (You can also download a variant file that SPaRX made that does feel more like the stock Blade than the one that comes with Phoenix. (http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=69672&highlight=sparx+variant)). Also, you can make changes to your Phoenix profile in your Tx and test/try different tweaks on the sim before trying them o your real heli.

That sounds SWEET Bro! I think I'll definitely put that into my "Heli-Budget" for June-July. Now I gotta make myself STOP buying upgrades for my CX & CX2's and just get the B400.

Thanks for clearing the "Techno-Lingo" up for me. I'm a computer nerd of sorts but the FATHEST thing from a "Gamer" there is :)

No problem Al, that was easier than getting Lock going last night. :arggg: If you set up TS, make sure your Mic is not on mute or else it won't work. :rolling

 You know I had to Lock. :YeaBaby:

Lock, don't forget to download this file too. Unzip it and place the file in your MyDocuments\PhoenixRC\Variants folder.
