If you have not done any repairs to the tail end of your heli, I would say the new belt has stretched out some and you need to pull the boom out some to tighten it.

A belt slipping makes a very stange noise. Mine was slipping once and it did have an effect on how the tail blades respnded occasionally. I have a close up vid of my gear area when my heli was making a strange noise that is on my YouTube page. Turned out it was the belt ; it was just to loose.

Could the spin out have been due to interference? (static build up) put some (non-aerosol) tri-flow on the belt to eliminate it.

When you made your repair, did you by chance twist the belt too much? If you put too may twists in it, the teeth will rub each other inside the tail boom, which will make a unique sound. Not sure how it will effect operation, ut it will sound some what like a slipping belt. (I hope that made sense)

i would pull everthing frm the boom back and inspect
and rebuild that way you will see what was the issue or i could have been a missed step in the rebuild

It sounds like the gear is slipping on the tail shaft or the drive gear. Hold the tail rudder and try to turn the main rotor by hand. if it slips, it's the gear slipping on the shaft.

Get a new belt. It could be the teeth on the belt have become weakened from constantly slipping. I had a severe wobble that was solved with a new belt, and I only had a couple teeth on the belt that looked remotely suspicious. Just get a new belt.

Make sure the tail drive belt guide pulley/tensioner is turning. I just had a problem with my heli and it was the pulley not turning.

For those that care, I will be wrapping up a vid this weekend on the tail shaft replacement. It will have some aspect s of the belt in it. If you have not resolved issues by then, maybe it will help.

Some ascpects of this thread did not make sense to me.
Maybe someone can help clear it up.

If I hold the tail rotor and turn the main, or hold the main and turn the tail rotor, by hand and apply a good amount of force I get a loud click.
It sounds like plastic against plastic and not what I'd expect a slipping rubberized belt to sound like.

Is this the belt slipping or something else?
And I have to use a lot of force to get the click. Is the belt too loose like this?

yup that is the belt slipping.....but how much force are you calling 'a lot'? you are probably fine. I would leave it and keep an eye on excessive belt dust by the tail and the inspection window.....if you see dust, its slipping in the air and need to be tightened.

That's what I thought but the post regarding the gear slipping on the shaft made me ask.
I have to crank on it pretty hard to get it to click. I'm pretty sure it's not slipping in flight.

Well you may have read in my recent thread that I'm about to look into a tail wag issue.
So, I'll have the tail assembly and belt apart tomorrow.
We'll see.

part # EFLH1455.

i had the gear split that the belt goes around so it would catch sometimes and other times it would not.

can't say this is your problem, just an observation. and it is a whole bunch of fun to remove :arggg:
