Just a quick question should the main blades track from low stick to high stick ?

If not where should the throttle be for best results ?

cheers in advance

i use dryfilm markers so i can wipe them away
some times i check in a hover about 3/4 stick sometimes hard to see

the other way is a lil dagurous but if done properly no harm
i hold the heli in one hand near the aft skid by the RX away from me
and spool up to 3/4 so i can see with blade to adj

as for adj i choose to lower the top blade but either way it tracks them

but proper track is with lift on the system

Does that mean in the positive pitch range

Yep, despite how you fly, majority of it should be with a positive pitch, so I would recommend thats the best place to check it.

But by all means if you wanna hover at 4 foot inverted in front of you to check tracking I would take my hat off to you :)

I just wanna be able to hover long enough to be able to check the tracking...

LMAO!

It's easier just to weight the skids down and check on the bench at lift rpm.;)

I don't have a workbench big enough to do this on so I actually use my 4 foot level, pass it through the skids, apply a lot of hand pressure to the long side of the level (so my face is clear from being sliced off) and then bring my eye down to blade level.

I have made a little table for the top of my camera tripod and clamp a piece of wood across the skids so it can swivel freely too

Sweeeeeet!!! If you can make that thing fly with the tripod on there, it'll look like something from War of the Worlds:D

Nice job.
I like the design and creativity involved.

Nice Carpman. Great idea and implimentation. How heavy is the tripod? You can't spin up the motor with it on there can you?

I can fully power up heli while it is attached to tripod but i do fully extend the legs for maximum stability and if needed i can add weight to the center hook underneath

I don't understand the "shim" thing. I have the stock woodies and the blade with the red strip is a tad lower than the black. All I have been doing is ever so slightly loosening the screw on the black stripped blade and then rechecking. I know I can't loosen it too much but I scares me that it might just unscrew itself in flight. So where do you get shims and where do you insert them?

'shims' are for using align's blades cause they are too thin.....tracking is done via the pitch control arms. not looking at heli now but if memory serves me right when you loosen it it will raise the blade (I think) if not go the other way LOL

So what keeps the screws from vibrating out while flying? It's not like we're tightning them down all the way.

the blade screws have self-locking nuts
the align blades are thiner than the eflite so we use washers or shims to make up the space diffrence

my rule of thimb on blade traking is to lower the top blade (the higher one)

the blades are controlled by the trailing edge so if you shorten u add more pitch to the blades and reduce pitch if lengthen the link

so if u use my rule you lengthen the higher blades control rod to reduce the pitch to track with the other

I found if on grass a few well placed and angled tent pegs will keep it on the ground.

I ran a broom stick through the skids and then plopped down a 1 gallon paint can on each end of the broom. :smokin:
