Never field charged so you can pretty much ignore this but i would guess that bare mimimum would be

2.2 x 1 hour x 5times = 11AH .... i think most car batteries are in the 100AH range.

yes that would seem the obvious answer but i need to know at what point the lead acid battery would stop discharging at a decent rate

You would be better off posting this on the main site as this forum isnt as popular.

Dude,

I got about 35Amps out of my 110 leisure pack before my TP1010 complains. I charge about 3-4 12s 3700's. Looking back, I will not buy it again. Just charge of the car and idle it. Else, invest that money in a 1kw genie. That is about 1/2 the price to 1/4 of your lead acid (contribution wise, I mean), but will last you years or upgrading. Also, it's a real pain to charge the lead acid as well as you lipo's a saturday evening.

But then again, I don't have a genie yet, so, I can't tell yet about the disadvantages.

Oh, did I mention how many jeans I lost due to the damn baterry acid? And it's heavy.

i just use a deep cycle 12v rv/marine battery. i fly almost daily, about 5 or 6 3s2100 packs, and charge it once a week or sometimes longer. dont really know how many charges i get from it as it has never died.

5 charges will use 10-12amps from a Pb battery.
The size of lead acid you need will depend on its type, and how long you want it to last.
A standard sealed lead acid wont like having more than 50% of its capacity being used, more than that and its life will start to drop quickly.
A proper deep cycle can handle up to 80% discharge (but would still be happier at 50%).

Why not field charge?
