Okay got a 401 3400 combo followed Sokals vids and watched finless vids and still have left nose drift in HH. I have used no sub or rudder trim did all the mech setup in rate mode(actually can make the nose drift right) do the learn method for the 401 to relearn center and still get the same left nose drift :BSSI can still hover it or fly it just heard that shouldn't have to. Now when I say drift i mean maybe every 5 sec have to make very little right rudder input. My friend has the same combo and has the same issue Any Ideas!

thanks John

Sounds like you do not have the slider exactly centered while the servo horn is 90 degress. I have this same combo and it is rock solid

slider centered set the limits and did mech adj on the pushrod to get slider dead nuts in rate mode and flip switch 3 times to get new center and same drift. maybe cause I just hover I don't know what about rebind ? is that necessary :arggg: WTF spend money on new stuff that ain't working as good as stock

as long as everything else is set right that is the problem, let us know....

If it is drifting, the odds are you have a vibration that is effecting the gyro. Does your horizontal or vertical fin vibrate when you are flying the heli?

Are you in heading hold when you power up the heli?

the delay should be 0
also rebinding could help
make sure the tail is compensating in the proper direction
sounds like it something out side the 401 tail setup

try belt tention and gyro gain

Are you in heading hold when you power up the heli?sure am just can't figure it out I'm noobe but can still fly it just a PITA to have to use rudder input every 5 seconds

try belt tention and gyro gain I got your pm left my number there also and belt trension should be able to push 1/2 way w/ not much effort right

I found with my gy401 is the doulble sided tape that comes with it is to soft and weak, so i got some 3m tape and it fixed my slight drift.

JohnAu. i thought that was designed just for gyros? So you didn't use the gyro tape at all just the 3m double sided tape ( the grey gummy stuff w/ the red peel off plastic)

i use the tape that came with it and same setup as iv shown

and no drift

Iv'e also read that your gyro wires can't be touching cyclic wires or it could create a drift. I think this looks OK

mine is a bit neater but the same

YOu should have a littl loop of wire at the gyro to act as a vibration sponge. What you are experiencing is vibrations getting into the gyro. You just need to figure out what is causing it. Your gyro wires should not be pulled tight at the gyro. It should be securely fastened down. NOTHING should be touching the gyro. Only the tape should be touching the gyro.

i just talked to Sokal :noteworthy on the phone and after a lengthly conv we figured it out. The 3400 comes w/ rubber grommets that I used and and they would not allow the servo to fit tight enough to the boom mount ( or just maybe I didn't have them tight enough):DOHso when any light pressure was applied to the pushrod the servo would move causeing the gyro to counteract act but the servo would move instead of the t/r therefore you have a drift. After removing the grommets and tightening up the servo :happyd I can join the hands free club and it would not have happened w/o this site. Thanks everyone and especially Sokal for pinpointing the prob

thanks John

Radds suggests unplugging gyro - plug rudder servo in RX - (rather than Rate mode) then 90 deg and center slider - I tried it it cured the drift ??? Noobie so I don't know why?
Using 80 pc gain and a 3154 Futaba on stock 110 gyro - its very steady!
