Ron,

As we discussed over the phone.....Is this the way you balance the head? In order for me to get the whole assembly to balance I used a standard piece of electrical tape that wraps about an inch short of going from edge to edge at the blade CG. I balanced the head with just the paddles on first, then added the blades. The head with the paddles wasn't off much at all. Not even enough to add tape. What do you think.

That is the way I statically balance mine yes. I then do some testing as we talked about by bringing the headspeed up and getting light on the skids and then lifting into the air.

I actually have a pair of blades this go around that did NOT required any static or dynamic balancing.

Back to the lift off -

I have spooled up to a point where I was getting resonant vibes starting then lifted and played with the pitch a little to see if it got better or worse (came and went) etc. I then used a full wrap of tape on one blade and then the other if the vibes continued. My last V Blades prior to the infamous gyro falling off the tape incident, only required about 3 inches of tape on one blade to stop vibes at the 1650 rpm setting (strange but true).

They seem to require some TLC at times but they are complex birds.

Anyway - a UH1 can drive a crew chief crazy so this is just a smaller version.

You are almost there ....

Dont let it whip ya

Ron,

I forgot to ask you what kind of tape you use.

I prefer to use trim sheets and cut what I need

Ron,

OK, I'll bite, what's a trim sheet? Is that a planker supply?

Yes -

5 or 6 inches wide and all colors, very sticky and long lasting.
