I was flying my 600 today and noticed my lights on 2 in 1 dropping faster than usual. Took canopy off and my FP 2100 7.4 with 15 flights on it was puffed to no end. I am new to this 2 in 1 reg. I am trying to get something going for tomorrow, can I use a 6.0v nimh with the 2 in 1?
Thanks

I doubt 6V is going to be enough above the regulator's 5.8V output to work, although I could be wrong. A 7.2V NiMH pack should work fine, though.

Thanks,
Any chance the 2 to 1 caused the FP pack to puff? Need to figure out what went wrong there as well.

Shouldn't have. What's the 'C' rating on the pack?
It may have been nothing more than a defective battery. Since you only got 15 flights, you should be able to call FP and get a replacement.

Do you store the battery fully charged? That is one way to kill them quickly.
If not send it back to FP and they should either replace it or send you a new one at half price.

Mike,
Flight Power has the best customer service in the business. I will send you a new pack tomorrow and work it out with them.
I've been using the same setup for a few months now and it's working great.

Thanks Ron!
Very much appreciated. Let me know if you need this one or a pic of this one.
Thanks again for taking care of me as usual.

I have often wondered whether Li Po's object strongly to the 3D thrashing they get, by puffing up or self destructing. It seems scale modellers do not feature strongly in complaints about cooked LiPos. Is this because they fly more gently (i.e scale speeds)?
I find I am ok ambling along but if I overdo things the body objects!! (Could be the red wine..could be age (75)
No reason to NOT believe that LiPo's are not the same (except for age - unless they really are old - and if you have not had problems then :noteworthy!!) - after all.. Li Po's were - (I believe) - not made for RC.
Of course..on the other hand , seeing all the posts about these batteries, it seems a lot modellers do not really understand LiPos and how they should be treated when charging/storing/using etc..
Equally, it has to be admitted that a lot of people are still not sure about Nicads and NiMH batteries if they use them!
Roll on the next generation of batteries that may solve the problems we have - safe and most of all - "foolproof". .A123 springs to mind.
On the other hand..gliding seems a good idea!. Trouble here is going up and down hills retrieving ..Ah well.:thinking

The nickel metal pack should work as it will be over 5.8 volts untill it is dead. Do you soft mount your battery? Mine is wrapped in carpet underlay and is not directly touching the heli at any time. Doesn't look as cool but will last many times longer, your choice.
