I don't have the new white paddles yet, but I like them - and if I did get them, would probably put some reflective/holographic tape on them as well... oh, and I have holographic tape on the ends of my blades as well - every little ounce of orientation clues helps us noobs out.

I have both and like the yellow ones better!

Me too (stock black ones, yellow ones and white CF ones), but still, you already know my choice!

To get the best out of the white CF paddles should I just screw them in on the flybar so the total length of the flybar is the same as with the black plastic paddles? (It is possible to screw them on much longer).

I screw them using all the flybar thread in order to get the 108mm of flybar distance indicated in the manual (notice that one paddle hole was not deep enough, so I had to drill a couple of extra mm).

I think that the flybar + CF paddle length is the same than with the plastic ones.

Total length with the black plastic is 190 mm. If I screw the white CF paddles to get 108 mm of flybar distance as the manual says for the original paddles the total length gets approx. 180 mm. So thats why I wonder what's right to do with the white ones.

Morten,

You're rigth, the plastic paddle is about 10mm longer than the CF one, but also a bit more narrow.

Anyway, I installed the CF paddles at 108mm on the flybar and the bird was the same in the air.

I tried my white yesterday, but one of the paddles fell of during flight. Just the threads, locktited to the flybar was left. So I stick to my old plastic ones .......

i have just pulled my white CF paddles out the bag , and one of them has a great big piece of tape on the bottom of it .

it looks like it would need it to balance the set of paddles .
makes me feel like they should have failed that paddle , but no they just slapped a weight (sticker) on it and sent it thru to packing dept.

not real impressed

I would never use loctite on plastic, it eats most plastics. Maybe thats why your paddles flew off.

It is metal threads inside the paddle. It is from this the paddle got loose and felt of and the metal threads was left on the flybar.

Ummmm. The sticker is there to protect the paddles' finish during shipping - to protect the two from rubbing together. It peels off easily and should not be flown.

:DOH I assumed the sticker was balance for the paddles too, and have been flying with it on. And, I didn't bother to put the paddles on a balancer either.

I didn't notice any in flight imbalance with the sticker on though!

Thanks for the insight.

I'm afraid Drew is right. The tape is just a protection so that the paddles don't scratch each other during shipping. Mine camed almost off when I spread the two paddles.

Anyway, I do like them very much, even though I had to drill one of the holes a little deaper to use all the flybar thread.

The paddle will not fall off screwing the paddle on all the flybar thread and tightening properly the set screw.

Just got my Trex 500 "H50103 Carbon Fiber Flybar Paddles" in yesterday.

One of these things is not like the other. Is it just me, or are these paddles jacked up?

One paddle is at an angle, and not straight like the other paddle.

Could you screw the bad paddle along the complete flybar thread?

Maybe you got the same problem than mines, as one hole of the paddle was not deep enough.

If that is the problem, very easy to fix drilling it a couple of milimeters deeper ....

Good luck,

Ricci.

I lost one too, causin a crash..
Only thing broke was both framesides and bent flybar.
And yes I used ca on the flybar while installing them, the paddle flew off and the metalpiece with the grub screw was still on the flybar..
Quite annoying :(

The paddle was just drilled incorrectly (at an angle), I guess. Nothing to do with the depth of the hole. I will try to see if I can get them exchanged.

I wish K&B or Gorilla made 500 paddles. Perhaps soon..

I have a set of these, I haven’t added them to my heli yet, I’ll look them over really good now? Maybe Curtis will make a set of stubs for this heli when the Radix blades come out?
