great but loose the white. come on, just leave them carbon. we love the white mains and tails but paddles must be black or carbon.

and why are they heavier than the stock paddles? we want LIGHTER not heavier. or at least the same weight.

atleast they could have the CF stripes like the blades.

I agree. When I was building my 500, the first thing that came across my mind was, "why did they give us these goofy plastic paddles that we have to cover the holes with this dumb sticker".. Haha. Had to use it cause there is no substitute. Maybe Gorilla will come out with some of the programmable paddles for the 500 that'll be as good as their paddle for the 450 (hint, hint).

Red Paddles FTW!

They may have moved the weight up so they weren't too hot. They look to be bigger then stock paddles. The shape and airfoil has as much as anything to do with performance as does weight. Weight is sure not the only factor for sure.

I agree, I have been screaming for some nice carbon paddles since day one. Curtis has Radix coming with Radix 430 mains and Radix tails , but the mains and tails will be out before the paddles he told me. Mains in about 3 weeks. I am holding out for them.

Align - LOSE THE "WHITE"!!!! While you're at it give us some "BLACK" carbon tail blades!

I will NOT be buying these because they're UGLY  :puke

If you're gonna sell carbon fiber anything you should definitely be able to see some carbon fiber. They could be plastic for all I know. And the serial numbers or whatever they are, couldn't they go on the bottom?? Or, hey just leave them off all together? Also I don't mind the white so much but there are these wonderful things called COLORS, that just make life more pleasant.:YeaBaby: Oh well gotta go watch a ball game on my black & white TV.

I think they look good..... Makes the heli easier to see

Guy's , just because they might be a little heavier doesn't mean that they heli will be slower to react if they made the surface area greater on the new paddles. The little extra weight will help the 500 in larger maneuvers at high speed.
the 500 has a couple of quirks at high speeds and it's because of the paddles. I'm sure Align made them larger and a little heavier to help with this...

Hey Guys, I've received my Align CF Paddles and I'm not convinced they are going to make that much difference in the cyclic response of the 500. They're heavier and the airfoil seems thicker. I'm looking for a quicker cyclic not slower.

Any suggestions...

Cut some webbings from the stock plastic paddles.

Carbon appears to be lighter, but you can't thread it. It needs a metal insert so you can put it on the flybar, and that is what makes it heavier on this size heli.

That is correct. The cyclic speed response depends on some few flybar / paddles factors as:

Increasing the weight of the paddles slows it down
Increasing the area of the paddles speeds it up
Increasing the rotor RPM speeds it up
Increasing the aspect ratio (span/chord) of the paddles speeds it up
Increasing the length of the flybar speeds it up
So bottom line is that, as the CF paddles have a larger area than the plastic ones, but are also heavier, they generate an equivalent cyclic speed response than the stock ones, with improved accuracy.

I really like them white. Has anyone actually flown them and could they reveiw flyin characteuristics.
Thanx

Yeah, all white blades and paddles actually don't look bad at all.

I would say that the heli flies just a bit more accurate on stick commands, but my flying style (mild 3D) is too smooth to really notice a significant difference at the moment.

I gues the bright side is.. you will always have a spare paddle, if your old ones get jacked up. come to think of it... I have never broke or destroyed a paddle yet.. and yes I do crash a lot... ok. maybe having them as a spare is no so bright after all? ;)

I like the white colored plastic ones. I never ran the Blacks stock ones. I am very happy with the cyclic response i get out of them at 3000 RPM. The V-blade do roll a little faster. But as an overall blade they are slow on Big maneuvers, slow when traveling horizontal and hard on the head. I also flown the Radix. They are a very nice and gracefull Blade. They load the head less then the white align's when doing tic tocs. Its a nice and stable blade as they are on the heavy side. So they dont roll all that Fast. They have a good stoping power. But when trying the change direction quickly and rolling after a quick meneuver, they lag a little bit for my kind of flying style. traveling horizontally they are slower then the white aligns, but faster then the V- Blades. However they are very stable on big moves. My favorite combo for rolling, cyclic response and for 3D, are the white carbon blades, colored paddles, 3000k RPM. But every one likes differnt set ups. Thats my .02

You must be made of money to crash a 500 alot...haha!
