Well as soon as I seen this heli was going to come out I wanted one, I learned on the blade CP Pro and had it a year with about 50 flights w/o problems. Anyways I like this heli and seen one fly in person today , but I do not need a radio, as I have a dx7 already, I got to looking and see they are coming out with a Plug n play one soon. all you need is battery,rx,tx. charger. well this looks like a good deal. but does anyone know is this Plug in play autally going to have the same motor and esc gryo and all as the ready to fly, cause on airplanes they cheat and give the cheap crap on the PNP models.
Also what all needs replacing?
I have seen servos, the HS65MG's are best? do you need to replace all 4 or just the 3 and leave the tail alone?
do you need a BEC after you switch the servos out?
how is the stock gryo, will it be fine for normall flying around with maybe a loop or roll down the road?
do you need a 401 or something for good flying ability?
Also whats the biggest battery has anyone used in this thing?mah and weight wise.
is there anything else that needs to be upgraded? as in are the stock plastic parts good? if you don't crash all the time, I mean the parts seem cheap as long the plastic stuff doe snot wear out much.
how is the stock motor and esc?
i am asking cause I was considering just buying the parts to build one but the PNP looks like a good deal if the servos are the only junk on it.
I have owned a trex 450 and well it was a nice heli but parts cost so much, in my LHS it seems the parts for this thing are about half what they were for the trex450.
I like the new 500 trex but again parts and the kids are high dollar, I really can not afford all that, I mostly fly Airplanes but always loved helis and everyime i see one fly I wish I still had one.
they are way to many flying 3d with them, but I would like to just have one to fly around and roll or loop, tic tocs maybe way down the road.
Also I still have my settings in my DX7 from my trex do you think they would be the same for the 400? or would everything be driffrent, as in pitch and thorttle curves and stuff.
Thanks for your input.

I will try to answer all your questions here it goes.
Yes there is a PNP version of this. Yes you need 3 cyclics all the same servos. You have alot of choices some run analog hs-55,65hg and 65mg, then you have digitals like jr285 and futaba.
Bec yes if you are running digitals for analogs no need.
Stock gyro is ok. But again there are alot to choose from.
Batteries the biggest I found was loongmax 2250 you can retro fit some I doubt the canopy will go in without modding it.
Stock motor and esc is very good considering the punishment it received
PNP is alright coz you already have the dx7 you will be fine.
And again you owned a t-rex before like I said you can't compare apples to oranges they are totally different in all aspects. You can crash both its $150 or 30-50 bucks in the 400 you decide. And believe me the parts is everywhere and all shops have tons in supply.
If I forgot something please post and all this are my own opinion. I have both 450xl and blade400 so don't flame me ok.

Thanks for the quick reply.
So if I ran HS65's no need for a bec right?
I am not a neewbie to flying or electric, I own 6 electric planes right now and few glow ones, and been flying planes for 20 yrs. just not up to date on all the heli stuff. i got okay with my trex but never 100% unstood everything.
is what your saying is a trex450 crash would cost $150 and the same crash on a blade 400 is about $30-$40 or am I lost. Sorry...
I know plenty choices for gyros just wanted to know if the stock would hold good for now for a while. trying to waiver my options on what would be cheapest but best in the long run.
either a PNP one or one built from nothing up, ( not sure how much parts would cost) be nice if they offered a kit, but then you need motor esc gryo and all, I guess would end up more with all of that. I figure a PNP one i could use the servos in a airplane of mine.
I asked about batts cause wondered on how much extra weight the heli could take w/o being a brick.
Thanks again, and please others give me your input as well.
I wouldn't bash you, I do not care what you fly, I like the trex450, but like the size of the 500, but know how much they cost. I love the CP cause it was out the box ready to fly. and I did fly it stright from the box..
How much from the box is the blade 400? or it need adjustments?
Also would my old trex set up in my dx7 work with the 400? or would lots of adjustments there be needed?

Yah if your running 65mg no need for bec but if you upgrade the gyro and tail servo you will need bec. Like you I also came from 3d planes and a newbie at heli just 2 months to be exact.
Yes trex about $100-150 against 30-50 bucks in b400. Yes stock gyro is alright for zipping around hovering and slow forward and backward. My b400 cyclics are hs55 and stock gyro and stock servo in the tail. I have jr285(3) and a 9650 tail servo coming in next week. I have a csm420e gyro standing by in my 450xl, just in case I need them. I have a ccbec running 5.1volts from tip to tail.
PNP is ok to you coz you have plane experience but for a total newbie you will be in the dark side. Well lipo let get this straight any where from 152 grams up but the 195 grams will be nose heavy now. Loongmax is 187g, someone tried kongpower but 195g is a little nose heavy now. But both loongmax and kong have awesome power no doubt.
Oh don't worry I like t-rex also. Is just preferrence you know what I mean.

Thanks again, gee where is everyone else?
Anyways so the HS-55's are holding up for you? I had those in my trex450 to start and they striped with me even before I flew it ( just with setting up the heli) but it was way out of adjustment, I had couple guys show me things to adjust to get it right. I put the DS285s or whatever came with my dx7 radio in my trex they seemed to do good had a HS-81 on the tail.
grams huh, I got to convert that to ounces LOL. but thanks.
WOW thats great about parts, i knew they all seemed less moeny then the trex was.
So what do you think about flying the Blade400 I mean compared to the trex450, are they pretty close in size in the air? the blade 400 seems a little bigger then the 450 but not sure, I didn't see one side by side.

Well the hs-55 are ok just hovering and slow forward and backward. But I'm still going to upgrade to better cyclics. The 55's are there just to keep me off the ground. Yes they do strip easy but I have 5 sets everytime I go to the LHS.
In comparison the trex is more stable than the 400. It might be the headspeed or the metal head parts. But they are pretty close. Don't get me wrong both are very good. Both have awesome upgrades. IMHO the 400 is a beater heli, just throw anything to it and if parts permit she will do the beating. And a very good heli for doing new stunts and maneuvers.
Like you I like loops, flips and tic tocs just to show off. Just the basic flying and mild 3d. I told you I came from 3d planes and after 2 yrs I can throw every trick under the sun but when it comes to landing I always crash. I don't have any sim so everything is learned from forums and reviews. In planes if you have a combination of a powerful motor and a high efficiency lipo your good and the tricks are easy. I will do the same in helis learn then execute thru flying.
Hope you decide where you will go. Good luck

Thanks again, and well I have been flying 3D planes for 4 years self taught, and well I am at the same stage I can 3D all my planes, and do whatever. helis are more of a challange, and I just enjoy them.
so is the headspeed on the blade lower then the trex450? my trex450 had the upgraded motor I was running something like 3200 with mine. I had to tone it down some so it didn't sound like it was going to eat me. lol did you mean the 400 is a beater heli or a better heli.
the trex was a good heli, but i was just so nervous about flying it, i also had a $80 crash about the 15th hover the motor came loose ( when you buy used things check all the nuts and bolts)
after that I didn't really do much but hover close to the ground $$$ signs flashe in my eyes when flying it. I never autally flew flew it around, I mean i did slow ff, and stop back up to me and stuff like that. Now my Blade cpp I flew the heck out of it, I was getting ready to try a roll with it when the thing had a glitching problem. I see they are about to relase a blade cpp 2. I wish they had went brushless with it and or changed the tail to belt drive. but they didn't. I just want something to play around with thats not going to kill me on parts when needed. I am a cautious flyer and try my best not to over do myself.
I just seen online today that they are also going to offer just the airframe of the 400 but since its not out yet it does not tell what all the "airframe" will include. but I am sure the PNP model will be best even if have to junk the crap servos. Can not belive they are still putting those 75's in all these birds.
