I have the same heli and Tx. What do you need to know?

hi paul , thanks for getting back to me i'm just after the setting for basic flight maybe just very minor -pitch @bottom stick , pitch curve, throttle curve, throttle hold for auto's and more so the gyro setting as i have had alot of trouble with my 401in terms of heading hold wether to have it set to switch e or f in terms of normal or avcs.
thanks alot for this i really appreciate it . cheers

The first thing to do is check out the Finless videos and make sure that your mechanical setup is correct. Most of the radio programming information should be accurate for the HDE as well, except that you don't have to be concerned with the CCPM settings and interactions.

I believe most people with a TREX 450 run -10/+10 or -11/+11 for collective pitch, depending on the motor and battery used.

If the mechanical setup is correct (collective servo is centered and the servo arm level at 0-degrees pitch) you should be able to set your Normal Mode pitch curve for 0-50-100 and use your endpoint adjustments with a pitch gauge to tweak the exact amount. You can then copy the pitch curve from Normal Mode to Idle 1, Idle 2 and Hold.

Cyclic is adjusted in pretty much the same way: Make sure that the mechanical setup is correct and use the endpoint adjustments to limit the elevator and aileron servo travel to give you -6/+6 or so of pitch.

Your throttle curve (in all modes) should be adjusted to give you the head speed that you want. Personally I use the ESC in governor mode, but if you want to use a heli tachometer (takes two people) and adjust your throttle curve in each mode, you can.

The gyro is pretty easy and is covered on page 96 of the manual: Make sure that you have AVCS mode enabled in the menu. When your gyro switch is away from you (I use Switch D) AVCS should be on. When the gyro switch is toward you, you should be in normal (NORM). If you are using a GY401, then start with about 80% in both modes and adjust from there.

Again, check the Finless videos for more information about all of this. An hour or so of watching the videos will save you a lot of trouble! :)
