do i have to get a 6 cell lipo charger and charge the 3 cell lithium batteries together or can i charge them seperately one on my triton one on my prodigy? has been a while since i read into lipolys but have a feeling they have to be matched or there could be a big problem?

Thanks

You have to use a 6-cell charger to charge two 3s batteries together.

You can charge them separately, just make sure that they are balanced regularly. I have 5 chargers now all of which supposed balance the cells, but not very equally - two of them don't charge them right up to 4.2V. So I usually top up the batteries charged with the "lesser" chargers with one of the better ones.

Cheers,
Mike.

is it only possible to balance lipolys which have the extra little white balance lead? none of my lipolys have those leads

yep.. you have to have balance leads in order to balance the batteries. if you don't have those, either you have some real old packs or you have home made packs

yea if your lipos dont have charge leads you have a problem because they will get real out of balance... i charge my two 3cell lipos in parallel as 3cell 6600 since their 3300. i figured its how you charge a 6 cell 1p pack so it doesnt hurt.. i havent had any problems

If you have the Thunder Power /Flight Power/Kong Power balance leads on your lipos, Kong Power has a balancer connector that lets you charge and balance 2 3S packs in series like a 6S pack. ReadyHeli sells it.

charging batteries separately is fine if your charger doesnt do that... but you want to keep the same two batteries you use to fly together.

if i was to get two 3300 or higher 11.1v batteries and charge them one after the other and fly them in the hurricane, could i also use them in my trex if i fly each one the same (for example 2 flights with the h550 then a similar flight with each pack in the rex then both in the h550 again, would that be ok?

Thanks

if your refering to a rex 600 and you will have them in a series for 6 cell then that would be fine but i would suggest running each separately because over time one will be worn more than the other and could cause problems running them in a series

i was refering to the trex 450, as long as i did the same amount of flights on each pack could i then still use them in the h550

3300MaH is too big for a Trex 450. Even if you could get the canopy on I doubt the CofG would work out, not to mention the extra weight making it a bit sluggish in the air.
