Hi all, after a bit of general hovering in the garden with my T-Rex450 SEV2 (5 Mins) i removed my battery (Thunder Power 2100mah 11.1v) only to find that in one of the corners where the battery is up against the frame a black liquid, Now i have recently oiled my main shaft and was wondering if when these battery's go can they leak a fluid or are they a solid, I'm a bit concerned about recharging this battery and was wondering if any of you fellow Freaks could give me some advice. The battery is getting on and has had many cycles, NO problems whilst in the garden i,e Flight Time, Loss of power just this black liquid when i removed the battery it wasn't covered, just a small amount in one of the corners, if it was oil i thought that it would of found it's way all around the Battery. I always balance charge TP-210V Balancer and a TP1010 Charger. The battery was no hotter then normal just warm to the touch (Charge it or Bin it?????????????)
Regards
Steve

Yes there is liquid in LiPo's. It has a VERY distinctive 'sweet' smell. Have a sniff of your battery, that should quickly tell you if its oil or LiPo fluid. If you can take a deep sniff of the liquid without recoiling backwards then it probably isn't the LiPo.
I think you just killed him... :YeaBaby: -Migs

Well after a good old sniff of my LI-PO (WOW WHAT A SMELL) it's finally time to say goodbye to it, it served me well but it's gotta go, thanks to HPSOV2 for pointing this out to me. Now how to dispose of this battery iv'e seen many different views on this and iv'e lost the paperwork that came with the battery. iv'e been on the TP website and they say not to discharge this battery using TP1010 now that it's damaged they say to soak it in salt water for 2 weeks after draining the battery of any power by using (i,e) 12v light bulb. After doing this they say that it is then good for Landfill.
Agree or Disagree that is the question????

I CA'd two pieces of fuel tubing to the frame where the battery touches to keep it from rubbing on the Lipo.
Good idea about the fuel tubing. That will also make the battery not so slippy.-Migs
