I almost got eaten alive by an Evo 50 last weekend...

Wiping down my plank to put it away for the day when "INCOMING!!!" was shouted. I looked up just in time to see it slam into the ground not 10' in front of me, almost inverted, nose down and moving fast. The impact showered me in debris.

The pilot is experienced and rarely crashes. Somehow he lost orientation doing high speed rolls and "froze" while his brain tried to figure out what to do. It was one of those "just one more" flights at the end of the day that went wrong. Fortunately, no one (but the Evo) was hurt. He was a bit freaked out as it was so close to everyone.

I couldn't believe how far the rotor carved into the hard packed clay. A clean gash 4~6" before the blade disintegrated. I can only imagine what that would do to someone's skull!

Stay safe!

TZ250W has a really nice flying site. But I really wouldn't feel right about flying there.

The cars are parked right on the side of the runway and people stand/fly right behind their cars.

There have been numerous incursions; some causing hits on people.

Everyone out there is a good flier, but the margin for error is *very* small.

Just to clarify, it's not "my" site. The club has been flying there for 30+ years (riverbed) and it has been under renovation for the past couple. It used to be a cleared area in a bamboo grove, not visible from the road and at one point they even had a grass strip (just found that out a couple days ago). Within the next few months it will change again. They have a big flood prevention project going on out there and when it's finished we "may" have more room. For now, we have to keep our heads down and our eyes open!

If there's one thing we don't have here it's space...
