2 rotortech 550 main blades
1 pitch control rod
1 spindle shaft (I think it's ok, but I always change these after a crash)
1 Main shaft (bent so bad I have to take the frame apart to remove it)
1 Main shaft clamp ring (I damaged it trying to get it off the bent main shaft)
2 main bearings
1 main gear .7 mod
1 autorotation hub (another thing I always replace regardless)
1 tail boom
1 tail boom support
2 rotortech tail blades
Also damaged but repairable is the tail servo rod (link pulled out, just reepoxy in). Canopy has a small tear at the top, easily fixed with epoxy.
Good news, all electronics and servos undamaged. And because it's flybarless, no flybar and paddles to replace.
Total with shipping: $270.18
Lesson learned: Don't fly inverted in 20 knot winds on your front lawn to impress the neighbors. Lost sight of it behind a crepe myrtle tree when a wind gust moved it behind it, and it went in quicker than a flash. I think I'll stick to the field for anything beyond basic flight. :o I do have a big front yard, but not big enough, I guess, lol.
my damage yesterday was:
tail output section (slider grips bearings etc), tail blades, main shaft, control linkages, set of V-Extremes, set of Radix that i borrowed, motor, main gear, and canopy
sucks doesnt it?

I was too depressed to take pictures.
It looked like a puppy, the tail boom was pointing straight upwards like a wagging tail, both blades snapped in half like floppy ears, and the main shaft leaing over 45° like an inquisitive look. Very sad.
I was toying with the idea of buying another flybarless kit without the electronics. Is that offered by an retailers? Or is Vstabi always included?
german shepherd or german short haired pointer puppy ??
Mikado sells a flybarless setup head upgrade separately (how sad is it that i know this and dont even own a mikado yet).

Sorry to hear about. That really suxs. Just wondering what are the typical prices for crash anyway on a 500 or 600?

COmmiserations from a fellow sufferer ! Don't get depressed ! - get rebuilding :whip . Looks like the brunt of your damage on the head and boom whereas mine on the canopy and frame. YOu can buy a flybarless kit sans the V-Bar electrics MIK2294 but unless you want a 2nd heli for backup not cost effective - it was $600 (AUS$) for a new kit here and about $200 for the new Mikado bits - funny despite having 3-4 backup helis that's one bird I don't want to be without so the T600 V conversion gonna have to wait !

Thanks for the words of sympathy. All parts are ordered and on their way. I decided to buy a new tail control rod too. I thought I could epoxy the other one, but it was severely split on closer examination, and for the $14 I didn't want to risk it coming apart in flight, so new total is around $285. I got everything apart tonight and the auto bearing is really ok, so I could have saved the $41 there. I really didn't hit the ground that hard, but boy did it fold up like a pretzel. It doesn't take much with the bigger helis does it? Lots of momentum.
Anyway, I'm fine now. It's got to happen sooner or later. I went out and flew my 600e tonight, just two batteries nice and easy to get back on the horse and get the confidence back up to snuff. It's always good to get that next flight in after a bad crash, helps to put the bad feelings behind.
Good luck with your rebuild. I expect to be back in the air this weekend mail and weather permitting.

Sorry to hear about the crash, however i have been told that ill sooner or later crash my logo, its bound to happen. I also have similar heli as you, Logo 500 3d and a trex 600 E.
I bought the Trex 600E because it is way cheaper to fix than the logo, im a bit scared for the battery tho, as they are 300$ each :(

Hello Itsparks
yes those batteries are pricey! Fortunately I am able to use my 6s batteries in either the 500 or the 600. Although I am pretty much using the 5000 mah's exclusively in the logo and the 6000 mah's in the 600e. (The 6000 mah fits in the logo just barely, but makes the heli nose heavy).
Fortunately the crash did not damage the battery. It did get a small scuff mark on the heat shrink, but it's only cosmetic. I never saw the heli hit (it was behind the tree from my vantage point) but judging by the damage I either hit off of the tail boom first and cartwheeled or the rotor head hit first and cartwheeled.I don't think the nose ever touched the ground because the canopy was in great shape except for a small crack at the top by the rotor.

The another reason i bought the used trex 600, was because i would not have to buy more batteries for the old trex 500 that i bought then sold. I said ill buy something that uses the same batteries, such as my logo 500 that uses 6s 5000's :p i have a collection of batts now :P

Worth considering getting in some one way bearings (http://www.vxb.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=bearings&Product_Code=Kit7645&Category_Code=)$9.05 each (HF1012 One Way Needle Bearing 10x14x12) and changing the bearing (http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=mercuriell&filename=Oneway.wmv)in the auto hub yourself to save some $$$ - they go out of stock too sometimes so saves the wait !

I managed to plant my 500 Sunday as well. My Logo always seems to be the heli that gets piled in as I feel so comfortable with it and tend to 'push the envelope', sometimes too far. It managed to go in vertically nose first and has finally written off the canopy which has survived 4 or 5 crashes, it was getting a bit tatty so needed changing but £34/$68!!!
The flybar was pretty bad although they seem to be made of the softest steel, I also stripped the main gear, not quick enough with the throttle hold and wiped the skids off. I managed to break the lugs on the sideframes before in a crash and repaired them with some plastic epoxy plus I've changed to nylon screws mounting the skids, the front two nuts pulled out and I've now repaired with JB Weld which should hold it. The boom was at 90 degrees, pretty usual and the tail survived unscathed. Unfortunately after stripping the hardened mainshaft out it's bent, not much but bent :( plus I broke a blade grip, another first. Total repair bill excluding blades came to £90/$180 which seems to be around the average crash cost, at least, my average crash cost!
the battery just pushed back in the fames a little with a couple of nicks in the heatshrink, it's still okay so good news, the Logo does provide a good deal of protection to the battery packs in a crash, at least those of us with 6S packs.

I guess you haven't seen Mercuriell's 6s battery where his pinion drilled a perfect hole in the top cell just the other day.

Good to know. I press the one way bearings out on the trex's after a crash. I don't know why I didn't think about it with the logo, just looking at p/n's and ordering them I guess.
Well I have two hubs with one-ways in them. I will probably order another one-way bearing from your link and replace the one in the hub that crashed. I generally replace all the main shaft bearings after a crash, I just don't trust them after that. Plus they're relatively cheap and I already have the heli in pieces.
Just found out Esprit didn't ship the pitch control link rod, backordered. So I ordered it from Fxaeromodels along with some other stuff, but that could put the finished build out until next week, they are in CA and I'm in NC and they only offer one type of shipping, no air. If I'm desperate I can make one I guess.

I know from Plettenberg that you can get a replacement for the Shaft/Fan Combo, hope they have the same from Hacker...

I can only go on the experiences I've had with crashes on my Logo 500 and I've had a few!
The parts to rebuild arrived from Andy at Real Raptors this morning and it's all back in one piece but I did notice a few things during the rebuild: -
1) The new 0.7M main gear is slightly out of round, it has a tight spot and is noticably worse than any of the other 5 or so main gears I've fitted. It's not particularly bad, but not as good as previous gears.
2) When I fitted the new main blade grip the packet came with 2 x grips, 2 x 4mm hex head bolts and 2 x 4mm nylock nuts. Nothing odd there you might think but both blade grips are only drilled for 3mm bolts and the recesses in the grip for the nut and bolt head are also for 3mm bolts. It was easy enough to run a drill through to open the holes to 4mm but then the bolts are too short as they don't recess! I've rang Real Raptors but Andy is now out of stock so can't check. I'm wondering if these are intended for the upcoming Logo 400 as this will undoubtedly use 3mm bolts as 425mm blades are only available with 3mm holes plus 4mm would be overkill.
3) Previously I've had to fix the skid tubes to the legs with CA, they now come with grub screws which is a big improvement.

Rebuild complete, two days ahead of schedule. A big thumbs up for Fxaeromodels and Espritmodels, two great Logo parts vendors for getting me the parts I needed so quickly! I was concerned with Fxaeromodels being on the west coast and me on the east coast, but I got the stuff in two days! I highly recommend both vendors.
I redid the vbar set up last night and hope to fly later today. Heli looks perfect again. I hope it still flys as well as it did before.

Mine together too :) - Much easier changing the frames than I thought - just a case of swapping components over - took the opportunity to punch some holes between battery bay and gyro bay and gyro bay and top tray to clean up the wiring - decided to get an Electric Turbine A40-10L-8 as replacement for the damaged stock A40-10L-8 hmm quite a different beast larger diameter - I guess thats the shroud for the rotor but look much meatier - will be fascinated to see how she goes - looks more appropriate for the 600 then the petite little 500 !

Please let me know how you go with that motor and which pinion you use.
