For Immediate release - 05/19/2008

The first production run of the 450 model is complete and final packaging is under way now. Shipments will begin soon.

An unexpected product trademark conflict has made it necessary to change the name of the model.

Its new name follows in the tradition of one of the most famous names in R/C helicopter history, the XCell Fury.

When the original Fury was released in 2002 it changed the landscape of
model helicopter flying forever. Using the Fury, pilots all over the world took their 3D flying skills to exciting new levels never before seen.

Get ready, that same excitement is coming to 450 size models with the
introduction of the XCell Fury 450!!

Look for it in your local hobby store soon!!

Thanks for the update Carey. I understand the trademark issues, and in fact I like the new name better. Seems more fitting for a heli of this class.

Does this mean that MA will also need to change the name of their new (to be released soon) Bandit 50?

Cheers,

I am wondering the same Tom.

The name change is good news for me since I wasn't too fond of "Bandit". XCell Fury sounds great :). I may end up giving this little guy a shot later on once I sell my T-Rex 450 SE airframe. Hope the Fury 450 can use a Neu 1107 that I've had laying around forever.

I would have preferred "Mini Fury"

Yeah, that would have done it too. Either way, the videos show the machine totally ROCKS so I'm really looking forward to its release and people's comments on it.

I think "Mini Ion" would sound cool.

I think getting a release date would be even better ;)

Ok I'm totally confused now... just how many different 450 sized electric heli's is MA planning to release and (in general) when? I've heard "Bandit 450", "Fury 450", and now I just saw something called a "Furion 450" for sale on Ebay.

Somebody kindly explain just what's going on with the constant name changes?

For whatever 450 heli MA ends up releasing, will there be a torque-tube tail upgrade available? I'm used to MA heli's NOT having belt driven tails and I prefer them without a belt! I wear the belt in this family, not my heli's! :nanabobo

Thanks!

- Michael

The only MA 450 is the Furion 450. Bandit is a ™ of Traxxis I think, so the Fury, and Ion got joined to form Furion, or so the story goes.

"Furion" was also the name for a planet (and it's people) in the movie "The Chronicles of Riddick".

I don't know Michael but I have to tell you that I prefer the belt. We are still on our original belt so reliability is not an issue. The tail screams and stops just as quick and hard as any tail so performance is not an issue.
The heli roars with power and I have watched it do an inverted auto so belt drag is not an issue.
A belt survives a crash much better than a TT and is cheaper!
A belt requires less parts. I like simplicity!

The heli gets to wear a belt too in my family!!

Kyle I agree that the belt drive system will likely survive a crash (though the tail tube it runs in probably won't!), but I seriously disagree on the simplicity point; TT's can be extremely simple with less parts than a belted system. I can't really comment on the cost point as I have no idea.

Belts however DO consume more power to run and on a small electic heli power is golden.

I've been flying an inexpensive ($225 RTF) Falcon 3D 400 sized heli as a backyard flier now for almost 2 years. It has a TT driven tail, and has performed very well. The only time the TT has been destroyed was when a crash caused a boom strike that chopped the tailtube into 3 pieces (I never found the middle piece, it was totally gone from the crash site)... it's unlikely a belt would have survived that either. The Falcon 3D tail drive has fewer parts than this Furion's belt driven tail from what I can see of the Furion in pics.

MA heli's have a long standing *tradition* of torque-tube driven tails and I definitely prefer them over a belted tail. I'd hate to see them abandon the more efficient TT tail drive!

But to each their own... I won't consider a Furion unless there is a TT upgrade available for it though. :FThat

Note: TT's are considered an *upgrade*, not a downgrade, to a belt-driven tailed heli! There's a reason for this.
