Decided to start a new thred on this for the "Google-rs".

PICS POSTED HERE: http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=57040
There have been quite a few posts requesting insight on how to charge a single 6s1p ThunderPower pack with a Cellpro 10s WITHOUT having to hack up and re-solder a $300 Lipo. I searched for HOURS for the solution and after having NO luck, decided to make a go of it myself. The process is DECEPTIVELY easy so I'll outline below but first a little about the why;

For reasons as of yet unknown to me, TP uses a 4 pin and 6 pin balancing tap even though their cells are actually wired 3x3, I suspect this has something to do with how the 205 and 210 work with multiple banks etc. Either way, on their 6 pin tap, the red and yellow wires are 0 voltage wires. This would not be a problem if the Cellpro TP/PQ adapters were wired to support such a config when charging a single 6s, alas, they are not. On the Cellpro TP/PQ adapters, pin 4 is wired on the circuit board as a dead pin, this is fine for 4s and 5s but not when charging a 6s and pin 5 is the 11v pin. So, to make a short story entirely too long, we need to swap the wire on pin 4 (orange) with the wire normally on pin 5 (yellow). This is done through the TP balancing tap on the pack, NOT on the cellpro adapter circuit board. This allows you to use your TP/PQ adapters from FMA with all your packs and no mods required. Here's the short steps, you will need 2 TP/PQ adapter boards from FMA. Pictures posted;

Steps to charge a TP 6s1p on a Cellpro 10s:

1. Using a VERY small screwdriver or even a large sewing needle you will need to remove the ORANGE WIRE and YELLOW WIRE from the 6 pin balancing tap on your battery. Fig 1.

2. Reinsert the wires into opposite holes. (Simply put, swap the orange wire with the yellow wire) 1st pic - Fig 2.

3. Plug the 4 pin tap from the battery into the 3s position on the TP/PQ adapter board and the 6 pin tap into the 4s position on the TP/PQ adapter board. 1st pic - Fig 2-3

4. Plug the TP/PQ adapter board with the 4 pin tap into CH1 on the Cellpro and the TP/PQ adapter board with the 6 pin tap into CH2 on the Cellpro. 1st pic - Fig 3

5. Set Cellpro to charge 2 packs at 1C and hit start, you're good to go. 1st pic - Fig 4

Notes: To charge higher than 1C you will need to remove the jumper block and charge through the discharge leads on your pack. Also, I accept NO responsibility if you blow your pack and or charger up because you did something wrong. I highly recommend you spend a few bucks and get the FUI2 cable to plug the charger into your computer for firmware updates (A MUST), monitoring, logging and setup of presets. Firmware v.2.16 is most current as of today.

Good luck, keep em in the air and if you see my wife coming this is NOT a new heli.

P.S. Just added a few more pics for those people who might say I'm nuts or it doesn't work etc. etc. My config with charger screen closeups are shown in the rest of the pics as well as the physical connections to the charger.

Or just get the Hyperion Duo and charge two at a time with no hassle! ;)

I have both and don't really know why I got the Cellpro, but at least now I can use it to charge my 3-5s TP batts.

True, but I'm trying to avoid a Cellpro vs. DUO debate as we have that in the previous thread which I linked to if others would like to read. Just hoping to provide some info to those folks who have the 10s and need a little assistance.

Keep em flyin'
