Evening All,
2 Questions for you:
1. Is this a good deal?
2. Is this a decent setup?

Hi muppet
Depends what 'helifeatures' it has
Also what size speed and torque are the servo's
how big is the receiver
IMO you need:
120 degree ccpm swash (obviously).
Servo throws adjustment
Servo reversing
Swash mix
5 point throttle and pitch curves.
Spectrum DX6i and futaba 6EH are low cost 2.4 GHZ systems with all this and more
Does any one know it the Hitec has them?
All the best

The Hitec is just about the cheapest transmitter that will work with a helicopter, and that's definitely a deal... but it doesn't look so much like it when you pit it against something like this baby (http://alshobbies.com/shop/lookupstock.php?pc=34783&Desc=).
After all, you're going to be spending quite a while with that transmitter. Might as well get the best you can afford. And what's a couple of servos to a helicopter pilot, anyway? You can destroy them in a single good crash.
If you have multiple models and don't want to upgrade the receivers, I'd give this one (http://alshobbies.com/shop/lookupstock.php?pc=3033&Desc=) some serious thought too. That's a decent transmitter by anybody's standards.

Thats fine mate but are the servo's small enough?
if not you may as well get DX6i

The servos are HS55s (which I'm sure I've seen a thread somewhere saying somebody has used them in a Belt) and these are the dimensions 22.80 x 11.60 x 24.00mm.

Thanks for that Mika. Would you know if the Futaba is compatible with the stock Belt reciever?

Should be - I almost got one myself before deciding to go 2.4 GHz. It's been a while, so I'm no longer sure if you needed Futaba crystals to make it work.

Muppetman,
There have been quite a few threads on this forum on the relative merits of Tx's, especially the DX6i and the Futaba equivalent. For another £100, you could get the DX7 with the extra channel. I recently [very recently] decided on the DX6i, as being excellent VFM [£100] and a capable Tx, proven for helis. Plus quite a few of the guys use them, so setting up is relatively straight-forward. Hey if I could do it!!!!!!! After the initial splutters, i am well pleased with it and its functions. A good bit of kit. Got mine from that fast guy!!

I wasn't looking at the DX6i because i thought it would be too expensive but that is a:clappp price. I think that will be my next radio.

The price at fastlad is currently £99, which is without servos. But a set of sg90/91s is not that much and they are readily available too.

Would the stock Belt ESC be OK with the AR6200 RX?

It is the combo I have. DX6i - AR6200 - Towerpro sg91 servos - stock Belt ESC and motor.

I wouldn't trust the Esky BEC with my helicopter. It's always a good idea to make sure the receiver gets decent power. I'm still using the Esky ESC on my MD500, but I feed the AR7000 off a separate 3A switching BEC. Even the 6100s in my King and foamy planes have one - at £8 a pop, I consider it cheap insurance. You don't really need the fancy Hyperion and Dimension Engineering units - a small and cheap Hobbywing or similar is still much, much better than the linear BECs incorporated into most ESCs.

I just got my Optic 6 - 3 in 1 (the best one of the Optic 6 line) and i got it for $150.00 with 4 Standard Hitec Ballbearing Servos (for my Esmart) , Charger, Flag, 8 Channel Reciever and reciever battery.
The "Best" doenst always mean 2.4Ghz, this has all the same features as the DX6 and then some only its in FM which is why i chose it for reasons you guys already know (plus you can use the $140.00 Co-Pilot with it whereas if you had to get a flight stabilization system for a 2.4Ghz radio you would have to go with the $500.00 plus Helicommand system)
Regular Price costs 209 dollars (More expensive than a DX6i) So its not what you can afford, i just got mine cheaper but would have still bought this over the DX6i even though it was more expensive.
So 99 pounds sounds about right... I dont know however if the Sport has the heli features.. you may want to check that..

These are the specs: http://www.hitecrcd.com/product/comp...adio_Chart.pdf (http://www.hitecrcd.com/product/comp...adio_Chart.pdf) but having never owned a computer radio before I'm not really sure what I should be looking for.

Ok the sport seems to be a lighter version of the one i have.
Namely you cannot.
Name your models
dont have flight timer
You dont have Spectra Module
you cant asign switches
you have smaller Display
ect ect... the comparison is right there on the front page
Whats important to you is that is does support 90 and 120 degree swashplates.
what it doesnt have is the Hover/Pitch control knobs on the sides which mine does have, but not to worry you still have the 5 point pitch and throttle curve on your side, although not finetuneable on the fly with the missing hov/pitch control knobs.
Now that i see what all your not getting with the sport, 99 pounds seems to be too costly for it but it is a computer TX but with alot of the features removed....
Again your in the UK so you should expect to pay Top dollar for anything you buy.

Could you find me a job on that Island of yours?
I'd be prepared to put up with that terrible climate of yours if it means cheaper heli parts ;).
