View Full Version : Pulling my hair out with Logo 600 VBar.

Hey all.
No matter what I do I can't make my Logo 600 with VBar fly nicely. I've been emailing back and forwards with Bobby Smith trying different stuff, but I just can't make it fly right. Originally it was doing elevator oscillations in FFF, I tweaked some stuff that Bobby suggested and then it was fine in FFF and oscillating in elevator and aileron stops. He said to upgrade the firmware and now the stops are fine but the FFF behaviour is back - and in fact is even worse! I came out of the bottom of a stall turn and the machine was going up and down like crazy - I'm talking about a 4 meter oscillation in altitude!! Damn near drove itself into the ground.
I'm going to start the set up all over from the beginning using the new Logo 600 screens added to the VStabi software, but I'm wondering if any VBar guru's have some time to go through it with me on Skype video or iChat AV some time?
Cheers.

Did you calibrate the sensor (3 way gyro)? That's sounds like it could be your problem.

Nope. Is there a proceedure for this (link)?

There ya go James. I didn't really understand the calibration, but there it is.
I could never get the dot to be in the center. I kind of just wandered around center, so I just got it to be as close as possible. I still have the same kind of oscillations that you do in certain situation, though they are not as drastic. I talking maybe a 12" or so. Mostly occurs when the logo is haulin', as it likes to do.
My setup is very close to yours...600, same hacker, 5350's, 600 V-tst's. I've attached my file. Try out my cyclic parameters if you'd like. Everything is at 100% in the radio and it's pretty agile, but I've almost got the porpoising gone.
Good luck man...I know I can't stop trying to get this thing perfect. Seems like there's always something you could do to make it better

Thanks Marshall. I'll take a look at what you've got there.
My main problem is that I don't have a lot of time to fiddle around with the settings on the VBar. My club is about 40 minutes drive away and there's nowhere safe nearby. I've just gotten a new laptop from work, so I'll install the VStabi code on it and hope that I can get it figured out at the field.

I tried the calibration this week just to check it out. It wandered all over the place whilst i was in extended mode and i couldnt centre it. then i switch to classic mode and it went bang on centre and stayed there even while piro'ing the heli. I think if you follow the instructions and hit the reset button on the flight params page it puts it back to classic mode. Well no adjustment required and i believe because of the Logo frame layout it's very unusual to have to do so because the gyro position is squared in all axis!
sorry, cant help with your original problem, i'm running the bobby smith file on my cyclic and it rocks, maybe servo type , i'm running the 9451's!

Why don't you go directly to the VStabi Homepage (VStabi.de)? There is a Forum with a 'Question and open discussion' section (in english!) where you can directly contact the developers! I think they can help you quick & easy (as I have heard, the support is excellent)...
Hope it helps,
Peter

Thanks so much to MrMel who spent some time walking me through my setup over MSN tonight. I'll find out whether it works on Sunday, I guess.
James.
