It's been a while since I fooled with one of those, I thought maybe you stuffed a 37 in there since that was one of the original 30 size machines that came out originally with a .28

Which gear are you stripping, the main gear, the pinion gear, or the counter gear?
The main gear on the mainshaft can be shimmed slightly with small shims between
the bottom bearing and the bottom of the one-way shaft. The pinion gear on the counter shaft can only be moved slightly forward or backward. If you can rock the main gear, the one-way bearing may be worn out. As a last resort you can remove the main gear and make a shim to sit between the main gear and the hub.
You should leave a very small amount of up and down play in the main gear so you don't wear out the one way gear.
I have had slight mesh problems before, but never had a problem with gears stripping though.
