Tonight I was installing a Dean's connector to my brand new Cellpro lipo battery when I accidentally shorted it by connecting the leads with pliers. It sparked. How can I tell if I damaged the pack? Is it safe to put it on the charger to see if it will take a charge? Please advise.
And why the heck don't they make them available with a Dean's connector on it, considering thats what most of us are using? Beats me.. .

I hope you put the female Deans end on the battery and the male on the ESC. That way you won't accidentally short it out. But, if it just sparked, and it will take a charge and hasn't gotten hot or puffed in any way, it should be okay.

It may or may not have lost capacity, no way to know unless you give it a try.
FYI, Deans recommends soldering and heat shrinking one connector at a time, keeping the other lead taped up for safety.

One little short won't do much. It will still be good, i did it to one of my packs, still performs as new.
Saw another guy do the same on the weekend. Its all good.
Should be good - scares the crap out of you though - don't it? Just remember that when you run them normally, you are just running it with a controlled short thru the motor that bleeds them down at a controlled rate. A hard short lacks the control, and that is why they fry.
