A learjet would look nice cming into landing.
I knew that reminded me of something... It just took a moment to remember where I'd seen it :)

I think a twin engine EDF is just about the worst thing you could possibly get, though... Just wanted to let you know it's available when you're ready for it.

Whoa D! That is really cool.
Was that a catapult you lanched from in the 2nd vid?!!
I am far too slow to fly something like that! Even if I was fast enough, I wouldn't be able to see it about 2 seconds after it went by me.
How do you get the YouTube vids to work like that? I either get a full screen or have to use the Http.

I don't think that was dierwolf in the vids unless St.maarten has taken a turn for the worst. But i did like the little ramp to lanch it. You gotta stop posting those vids, really makes me want a plank.

Ooh, that upgraded version is a real screamer. Don't know if I would even like it that fast... Seems like you'd be piloting a real fast dot in the sky most of the time :)
What I really love is at least semi-scale looks, so I tend to fly them around scale speed and close enough to see where all the work went. The paint looks too nice to sand off, so I might once again opt for something a little less finished and take it from there. I just wish they'd get this kit (http://www.aero-fever.net/product_info.php?cPath=9&products_id=136) back in stock.... That Midnight Hawks (http://www.midnighthawks.fi/sivu/en/) idea is kinda growing on me, the more I look at these photos :D

The black scheme is nice, but could be really bad for you at a distance.... The Sapac Foam isnt painted really its all white foam with some stickers so repainting isnt a issue at all.
As for speed, even 3s is quite fast, but no one says you have to be at full throttle :)
This weekend i'm going to add some flaps to my P51D, it doesnt really need it but hey i love the look of the flaps when coming in on approach.
Planning on adding them onto the T-45 also but going Flaperon route instead on that one..

Wiz, that P51 you got there, how large is it and what's it made of?
I like that color scheme, may change mine :)

I hear you... That's the trouble with warbirds - most of them are painted to be difficult to see. That dark sea grey / light sea grey scheme is certainly not something I'd particularly want to fly on a cloudy evening ;)
That's probably one of the reasons I'd also like to do a WWI biplane, from the early days when camouflage was more of a fashion statement :rolling
The Alfa Albatros D.V shouldn't be too difficult to pick out from most backgrounds...

Dark colors are fine as long as you can tell top from bottom i.e one strip on each wing on top while 2 at bottom for instance...
direction of flight wouldnt be a problem for most people, just it will always be like flying around sunset where its always a siloette (spelling i know, i dumb :) )
Plenty of sunshine down my end so dark colors arent bad really

It's only 1/72 and it's a plastic static kit.
If you'd like I'll post some blow-ups of the color scheme.

Well color i got down pat,
What i would like is top view and side views so i can see panel locations, the Artech has some on there but not all, and i like the deeper groove yours has on panel sections, i see myself now widdling away thru the night :)
so yes if you can post those 3 for me (top, left and Right) would be great.

Widdling away through the night eh Wolfie:YeaBaby: you shouldn't drink so much close to bed time then:lol:
Perhaps it doesn't mean the same thing over the pond:)

Mika your right. I think I will spend more time researching about them before I buy one... I got untill Xmas to decide what im gunna get.
I like the second vid you posted DW. That is exactly the type of flying I like. Really fast and quite aerobatic. I like flying upside down close to the ground... It's soo easy...
Mika, what is so bad about the fans in the Leajet?

Mika, what is so bad about the fans in the Leajet?
Just the fact they are fans, and that there's two of them ;)
It can be a real pain trying to get equal thrust out of two ESCs, motors and fans... and if you don't, you'll be yawing uncontrollably. If you lose power in one, you're more or less going down unless you're real quick to catch on. Even when they do work, you can't power out of trouble like you can on a prop plane. The fans need airflow to be effective, so when you misjudge a turn and go into a tip stall, you're toast.
Not saying you couldn't handle one with helicopter experience... Just that a scale twin engine EDF is quite possibly the most unforgiving plane there is.

So a plane with a prop would be better and faster?

Not faster, although you can get pretty respectable speeds out of props too... Just easier to keep in one piece. But hey, I started with a Mustang so who am I to talk about sensible learning curves? If we didn't enjoy a challenge, we wouldn't be messing with collective pitch helicopters.
The only hard part for me was remembering to maintain airspeed, and it's twice as important on a jet. Just get something that's known to fly well and you'll be all right... As long as you don't try to stop and hover ;)

If you want speed in Prop planes you need to get a FunJet or a Pylon Racer.
Pylon Racer (I love this video because the guys with the stinky smelly greesy Nitro planes
in the background must be really pissed they will never see such speeds :) you cant win over
the torque of Electric, not in cars, planes or boats)

Wow that thing is amazing. I agree about the man with the silly little nitro planes:P
I pylon racer sounds nice. That looked like a glider with a motor to me tho?
Can you get rc pylon racers that look like the ones from the redbull air race? I like the Ballerina on AFPD... If I could get one of those but electric then that would make me happy :D

Just returned from my LHS. They had this on the shelf and I simply couldn't leave it there.
It's a Navy Seahawk fuselage by Eflite for the Cx and Cx2. 'Course that means that it will work for a Lama V4!
Here's a couple pics. When I get it done, I'll post the build on the Lama forum.

Hacker (http://www.hacker-model.com/uk/ballerina.html) makes a huge 1:3 kit for 25 to 50 cc engines... but no electrics that I can see. Still, there's bound to be a similar enough electric powered model at a more reasonable scale and price.
Check out Modellbau Bichler (http://www.modellbau-bichler.com/combengaircrafts-c-26_28.html?osCsid=31c936a8b8c871c4c5ac32579180f25f ) and Parkflieger.de (http://www.parkflieger.de/Flugzeuge/Parkflyer:::1_4.html) for reasonably priced planes within the EU... Al's Hobbies (http://www.alshobbies.com/) would probably be the first place I'd look in the UK. Real pylon racers don't seem to be that popular here (at least I don't see them anywhere) so I guess your best bet would be one of the US sites if you want extreme speed.
Nice fuselage, Jack - I didn't know E-Flite made those. Id' pick a Seahawk over a Dauphin any time ;)

Hey jack thats really cool.. You seem to like scale helis... I like the one in your avatar:D...
Mika thanks for those websites I will check them out after posting this. Its a same pylon racers aren't very popular over here. I think they are cool.
Speaking of seahawk... I saw a big huge helicopter go over my house a few days ago. Looked abit like that one. Some one said it was a sea king... Don't know what it was but it was big and cool!

WIZ!!! THANKS FOR THE PICS!!!
Yes they have real life lookign pylon racers for RC but those are not the fastest out there... Here is a popular one for good price.
http://www.hobby-lobby.com/nemesis.htm
Fastest is F3D, F4D and F5D class which are the type you see in the video i posted.
Most look like this (only this is V-tail version) and All are VERY expensive kits alone are 260 dollars and up (thats just the fuse/wing) Still cheaper than a Trex 450 though LOL...

It's when I see a plane like this I forget about speed. The streamline design is amazing. Thats one pleasure you dont get with rc helicopters. Some planes are so nice you could just have them up on the shelf or in a cabinet so you can look at it. I would still rather helicopters though... For some reason. There is somthing about helicopter I love:D

I think I will get something like this for xmas. I will probably end up upgrading the motor and change the gear ratio to make it a tad faster.
TBH I dont have a clue about rc aeroplanes but I will do more reseach towards the end of the year like I said. This aeroplane may not be for me.. I just saw it and liked it.
I do want to start off with a fiberglass one though. I'm not interested in foam ones. I like the realistic paint job you get with the fiberglass fuselages.

If you dont know about planes its best to start off with a cheap foamy to get aquanted with the controls.
P51 from artech is good to start out with and very cheap.
you can even use your Esky radio for the belt, simply move dipswitch 2 to the left and it will be in airplane mode.
Most people, buy foam planes and then Fiberglass them over themselves, also the foam itself is quite smooth and paintjobs look prefectly fine. All depends on who you buy from, artech and Sapac ahve some of the best foam models.
New people here foam and immediately get turned away.. but really they dont know what its all about (power to weight ratio) Just like electronics things got smaller, in Rc things get lighter.. first it was all balsa stuff, big and heavy then went to composite plastic/glass with balsa core pieces then foam.
Balsa and Composite if you crash, you best jsut go home, with foam you fix it in a few minutes at the field (unless of coz you hit doing 150+ mph) then i doubt you'll find all the pieces.
Right now you can go out and buy a Funjet (which is completely foam) and do 150mph .... Foam is not as "Toyish" as it sounds.
