I've found that my Spectra-G won't hold the tail worth a damn even in medium speed backwards flight. As soon as the tail gets just slightly off center it blows completely out.

I'm running a GY611/9257 combo and stock tail blades. I've checked my ATV's and limits in the gyro setup and it all looks pretty normal.

Anyone else have any experience with this? Are there aftermarket (larger) tail blades that might address this?

Thanks

I fly my heli backwards all the time and its rock solid. Mine is with the 611 gyro with 9256 servo. Stock tail blades will do, I'm currently flying radix 105mm.

Check your hardware, you've got a problem somewhere.

If you really do have the 9257 on your tail its a mini sized servo designed for the 401 and 450 sized helis . It only has like 25oz torque. There is NO WAY that servo will hold the tail on a Spectra-G it does not have the power. The 9256 is the standard sized servo designed to be used with the 611 that is what you need and nothing less for that heli.

If this is a typo on your part reguarding the tail servo model number disreguard this post as I am only replying as my eyes did this  when I seen 9257 and Spectra-G in the same post. I would hate to see that beautiful machine crunched because of that.

That was a typo, I've got the 9256 and not the 9257 as I'd originally written. Although that certainly would have explained my problem :)

I did end up working out the issue, and it was all in the gyro setup. I bought my 611 used and apparently the previous owner had altered a number of settings that I missed. I redid the gyro setup and now the tail is holding rock solid.

Hiya Iconnary,

Your bird sure look sweet, you got me thinking since I saw your Spec, I haven't been there to see you fly that thing, might show up this weekend,

Where did you get yours, I want to price one out, might be something in the future works if Nitro goes up in prices?

Thanks
