Does anyone have some basic (beginner) DX7 radio settings for the Gaui 200? I've looked but can seem to find anything. I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

I'm looking for some default settings to program my DX7 for the Gaui 200. I was thinking of using the settings for my Blade 400 but not sure if that's a good starting point. I'm looking for something like what's attached. Thanks!

Besides what kind of swashplate your using and throttle and pitch curves (but only sometimes) there ins't much that is universal to everyone's Gaui. You sort of have to watch those videos and do what works best for YOU and YOUR heli, but if you have questions, we can help. I can say that my Gaui is setup similar to the way you'd setup a t-rex 450. Keep us posted.

Can't be done that way - sorry.
You have to setup your heli.

I've been struggling with setup issues of my own and cannot understand why it is so hard for people to share 'their' settings that they are using. We are all basically using the same equipment, but have different flying aptitudes.
With that said, I have attached a file of the settings that 'I' am currently using which seem to be working pretty well. I consider myself a noobie and these settings are working for now. At this point I don't do more than hover around a bit.
Hopefully this helps.

i think you guys don't understand how to set up your own helis right. every heli is not going to be set up the exact same way. end points for one. you have to figure out how to get all ccpm interactions out of YOUR heli. WATCH THE FINLESS VIDEOS i can't stress that enough. ccpm parts one and two will explain it to you. if i can figure it out, anyone can. watch all of the videos. i've watched them all at least ten times, and i still find myself going back to them, every now and then.
throttle and pitch curves depend on how you have YOUR heli set up. i wouldn't even use someone elses as a referance. just understand what every function on your radio, and heli does, and you will understand why no one is posting theirs. i know it is a lot to learn, but i consider it absolutely necessary in order to get the most fun factor out of YOUR heli. i used to wonder why for the same reason you guys are now.
now get hot and sit down and watch them.:whip

Hover_X...thanks for the info. rotorhead58d....I understand your point about ccpm and understand that no two heli program setups are the same. I just haven't had the time to watch those movies and was just looking for some program settings as a starting point. Hell I haven't even had the time to start my Gaui build. 70+ hour work weeks working nights hasn't left me much free time. Thanks.

Duh! That's why we are asking questions.

I've watched the videos too, but sometimes it just helps to have a starting point when you are just beginning. The differences are not that varied for a beginner using the same equipment as another using the same exact equipment. I understand what you are saying about end points and I'm quite sure that is not what was being asked of the original poster. What we are looking for are good starting points for pitch and throtte curves, expo, and dual rate settings. Since nothing in the manuals give these settings, we come here looking for support and a simple answer like, "I am using xxx for my settings and this is the type of fllying I am doing." That's not to say that those exact settings will work for me, but it does give me a starting point.

First of all, this is the Gaui 200 site... right? So the setups are not going to be too much different from one another. We're not asking to setup like someone who flies 3D, but like someone who is just learning to fly straight and level. How can you say you wouldn't use someone elses settings? Did you just buy your first heli and set it up without ANY recommendations at all? You say to watch the videos... well they also give recommendations so what gives?:dontknow I was able to get some startup settings from the DeeTee rep over the phone since that is where I bought my radio from. Great guys and even better support! When I bought my radio they highly recommended that I get some advice about setup and after watching them fly at a local event they had my total respect :noteworthy

I agree 100%, but asking questions of others more knowledgeable than ourselves is part of the learning process. That's called wisdom! I don't want to re-invent the wheel or go through the same troubles that somebody else has already figured out. Tinkering and adjusting is part of this hobby and I like that part too, but I also like to spend more time flying and less time here.

keep in mind that i'm a newb. not the best person to ask this kind of info, especially from two other newbs. kind of like the blind leading the blind. you catchin my snowdrift? the RIGHT way to do this, which is the way i learned evrything about my radio, is to watch those vids. sure, other people have helped me, but some things you just have to figure out for yourself. if you want to fly, you have to make time to educate yourself. not unless you have an open checkbook policy for your budget. if that is the case, i would suggest you fly in a big open field, and wear a helmet.
i'm trying to help you guys. everyone here helps. there are pitch and throttle curves, by veteren flyers posted in the 200 group.
oh, and btw...i crash alot.:DH

Okay...
When you just say, what are your settings, then we can't really help you because "settings" is a really broad term. It's not that we don't want to help, but it almost sounds like you're being lazy. If you watch the Finless Bob videos, then you could get 90% programmed yourself and you could get it right. If you have a specific question about setup, we can help much more.
I'm still new to this hobby as well, but I watched the videos, for my Gaui and my T-Rex, and if I had another heli to build, I could pretty much do it by myself. If someone basically programs your heli for you by telling you their settings, then yes it took less effort on your end to get your bird in the air, but you didn't hardly learn a damn thing! Then when you go to build your next bird later on down the road, you won't have a clue what functions in your radio are for, and how they affect the heli in the air.
We're here to collaborate about the Gaui Hurricane 200, and help others with problems, not fix their problems for them! I'm not saying that if you have a vibration problem like I did, you shouldn't ask for some suggestions that might be causing it, you should, but only after you've thought about it for a while by yourself, searching the forums, and going over your heli really well and trying to figure it out for yourself. That's how you learn.

I totally understand what your talking about. I'm the type of person that learns how to do things by doing them. I can't just read something and then just go do it. More of a "hands-on" type of a guy. When I had my JR8103 radio it took me some time to learn all the functionality of that radio. Just need to find/take the time and go through the menu's on the DX7 and learn all the functions and menu's. Thanks again! BTW...I'm using the same gear on my Gaui except I'm using the standard AR6100.

as you progress, you'll see that this is a very time consuming hobby. hobby may be the wrong word. more of a lifestyle to some. a very time consuming, and expen$ive life style. the important thing is to be safe, and the only way to do that, is to learn as much as you can, as quick as you can, so you can have fun NOW! what other helis have you flown? this is not the easiest heli to fly. my trex 450 is easy, but i tend to get a little over confident with my abilities. it's my beater, my learner, slice it anyway you want to. the cx-2 helps with orientation training. but when i point the nose of that 450 at me, it's intimidating. i fall flat on my face, and have to turn it tail in. i know it's going to take me some time, and i've accepted that. accept that the set up is going to take time, and just deal with it.

rotorhead58d....I started in the heli hobby back in 2001 I think with a Raptor 30 that I built and setup. At that time I was using a JR8103 radio. Two years ago (2006) I got hooked again when I flew a blade CX at hobby shop in Dallas. Bought a used CP-Pro in early 2007 that I finally was able to hover in all orientations early this year. Now I have a CX2, Quark, Gaui 200, Blade 400 and older X-Cell SE nitro. I can fly the CX2 & Quark no problem and able to hover the B400 in all orientations but haven't started FF. Not that I don't know how to setup helicopters but I'm just a little rusty on all the settings you need to setup and what they do/control. Just tonight I was able to hover my B400 hands off the DX7. Really looking forward to the Gaui 200. Thanks!

I use a DX7 and coppied my Trex settings to another model intended for my first Gaui 200. Worked really well after making sure everything was working correctly (servo direction and the sort). I have three Gaui 200's and all of them use a different model on the DX7 with sligtly different settings because believe it or not they all fly a little different.

Flew first hover with my little sd Last Night.
I already had +20 expo dialed in on ail and elev.,
already had the swash mix on these two turned down to 30%
Have approx (eyeballed it) -5 neg, 0, +12 or 13 in Norm mode, so my pitch curve was something like, 36,43,50,75,100.
I preset the throttle curve like a REX, so like, 0,50,80,90,100; but was only getting 2,400 RPM at 0 pitch, half throttle.
Anyone running a higher flat curve? Does the Gaui ESC Govern?
HOVERED AND FLEX LIKE A 450 T-REX !
Rock Steady, but too sluggish; turned down the expo to +10, lot better;

Okay, Straightline 75% in Norm and ST1, ST-2 run 85%
Am I shooting for 3K headspeed? (or more)?
Also, do I keep My swash mix for pitch at 60 default? does that 'typically' give one +/- 13?
Don't mean to hijack thread (at least it's on topic).

i have my swash mix around 45, but you just have to experiment where it works best. i say if it's flying good now, leave it there. watch some of buzzkills videos. i swear his headspeed his 4000!
edit...keep your normal curve where it is. just bump up st-1 to 75% and st-2 to 85% try it, if it's still sluggish, bump them up a little more. like i said, some guys run 100% in st-2
