g'day, i'm trying to figure out which flight sim to get between g3-g4, xtr or phoenix, i was leaning toward the phoenix primarily because i fly a rex but i see on the knife edge site you can download various rex's' for g4 what to do what to do.
what would you all recommend:dontknow

I've tried g3.5, g4, and phoenix. I stuck with phoenix. It's easier on your computer, I like the cushion affect of the ground, it has a b400 and trex450, trex500/600 etc (many of the latest real machines), water & floats, free upgrades & bug fixes etc.

The G4 has more editable inputs, and more models to download and install. The Reflex seems more realistic. You cannot go wrong with either. Since the Reflex is european, there is worse support, and hunting for more models requires venturing though forums in other languages. I'd have to say the G4 is more advanced and more refined. I like to practice on the Reflex more, but the G4 has better training help, much better. If I were you, I would see who has both to try before you buy. You can get TRex's for the G4 and likely for the Reflex as well (though I haven't found this one yet)-Migs
P.S. I haven't tried the Phoenix

I bought G4. It was a tough decision because Phoenix looks nicer (and may or may not have better physics).

To me the main advantage of G4 over Phoenix is the Interlink Controller. It just makes sense to me to have a dedicated controller for the simulator (which also works for Clearview and Heli-X). And it is a very good fake tx. However, if you are one of those people who prefers to use his or her own tx then maybe Phoenix (cheaper and prettier) is preferable.

that was one of the other stand out reasons for going with g4 that it comes with it's own tx

do i really need g4 of will 3.5 do fine i'm just thinking in terms of price, the extra cash i don't spend on g4 could go toward getting my hs-5065 feathers for my cyc/collect on my bird

Having to use your own Tx is the advantage of Phoenix and Reflex. A large part of flying is knowing where your sticks are by just feel, the feel of the Tx is so critical to flying. I can't stress enough how great it is to sim on your Tx then fly using the same Tx. When you plug in the dongle your Tx turns off the RF section so your battery packs last ALOT longer (i get 20hours instead of the 8 flying for real). BTW How much of an unbiased opinion you think you will get posting this question on the Realflight forum ??

you can always run your own tx with g3or 4 its no problem i wouldn't say i've had any biase as the first two people to respond to this thread own phoenix sims.

If you are trying to decide between G3.5 and G4 and you intend to use the supplied controller then I would recommend G4 - the G4 controller is much nicer.

Phoenix hands down. I own both and wish I hadn't bought RF.
