Hi, this is probably a dumb question but I'm a dumb noob at this stuff. When I set up my cyclic servos with my dx6 what position is the flight mode or idle up switch supposed to be in? also does it matter if the throttle cutoff switch is on or off? I know the throttle stick is supposed to be at midstick to set up the neutral point on the servos and then I used the subtrims to get them at a perfect 90 degrees but I don't remember what position I had the flight mode switch in. Thanks for any help.

when you setup your radio, & swash etc. make sure you have the motor disconnected, the mode in flight & hold off. - although hold doesnt affect your servo movement.
What heli do you have? and what gyro?
I would be happy to send you my DX6 setup if your flying a 450 like trex or HDX.
I am a newb too, and spent hours on the radio.

Don't know if it'll help you, but I found this very good.

Good stuff Kiwi320...
I think that is what I used for my original setup...

Hi and thanks to all. I have a copterx 450 with a telebee gyro. what is your CP mix percentages? I have mine set to CP2=30%, CP3=30%, CP6=60%.I finally figured out what these do. It looks like they adjust the amount of travel for the servo arms. When I set them all to 100% I noticed that the servo arms moved 100% full travel in both directions which looked like way too much swash tilt for a beginner. setting them like this really reduced the swash tilt so it won't be super responsive.

My swash mixes are all set at 65% thats CP2, CP3 & CP6.
I adjusted my 'sensitivity' with Flybar weights (align) and using some exponential on the radio.
That way if I am in trouble, I can access the full swash movement if I need to.

Thanks Aussie G I'll give that setup a try. Maybe you can give me some advice on my gyro. I just put new blades on the heli and went through it and checked that everything is tight and the ball links are good, basically a preflight inspection. I want to do a hover to check my trims. I spooled up and just about at the point where she was going to lift off the tail started to wag violently so I shut down. I noticed that I had the gyro gain almost full cw at max so I think that is the problem. Any tips on where to start a starting point on the gain setting of the telebee to find the sweet spot? should I just start at min gain and keep increasing till the wag starts? Thanks

I have never used the telebee, but most of all gyro's work best between 60-75%, I would start out around 65%
Im not an expert here, I have just been through what you are into right now, and its all fresh in my mind.

Thanks for the info. I think I am totally confused on setting this gyro gain. I've been checking out a lot of threads. From what I gather is I should have the GER set to around 38% in the rate mode, it was set to 100%. I have the GER at 45% in the HH mode and I'm getting tail wag so I guess I need to try reducing it but I will start over again and set it at 65% in HH and use the subtrim to stop the creeping. My endpoints on my rudder servo were way out of whack but I got those set now so there is no binding at full deflection in either direction. I did fit this 450 with a set of training gear as I don't want to wipe out another set of blades trying to get this gyro right. I'll take it slow, don't want to cause any damage before I even get it off the ground. Thanks for the feedback

Ok, I finally got rid of the tail wag and have a solid tail now. I had the gyro gain set to 45% in the GER travel limit and decreased it to 35% and now it's holding solid. I guess each gyro is different and I think the 45% gain setting was for a GY401 and not a telebee. Hovering solid , looks like she'll fly now.
