Just got back from the feild after my first 4 flights with my scorpion 1400kv motor, & all i can say is OHHH YEAHHHH, the difference is unbeleivable. the power is awesome and i didn't loose more than 10 sec's of my flight time 4.30sec :noteworthy.. i have a full metal head with the microheli flybar seesaw holder, align white carbon main & tail blades, spartan gyro 9257 tail servo with HS5245 cyclic & align 2600 25c 6s batts. for those that like the details, i also had the Rhino 15T pinion on,which fits snugly on top of the scorpion motor collar no mods needed a big plus over the align pinion.i also tacho'd in between 3050,2900head speed good enough for me..after each flight i checked the motor temp, the batt temp & esc temp. the batts were a little hot im charging now so i don't no how much iv taken out yet,the motor bottom was not even warm the sides were slightly warm, the esc was the coldest iv felt it since iv had it so no overload's,i do use a seperate bec HHecules 5/6v i have it set on 6v, with an align stepdown on the tail,i will probably drop the time to 4.15 for the batts as they were the hottest they have ever been, but they are pritty new with about 20 flights all together but no puffing & the head speed never dropped it still had a lot of power left in it when i landed.. & i was right it was my 500l motor, that was singing bird songs so thats not good 20 flights & the bearings must be going, iv had a look but i cant find a way they could be replaced not that i care anymore as it wont be getting used again:YeaBaby:thats another big plus about the motor the bearings are easy to change 15 min job max so all in all a BIG:thumbup:

I knew you'd like it. I love my setup which is similar to yours! The 500 does love the higher headspeed. It really makes that bird so much more responsive! Congrats! I'm glad you're loving your decision about the Scorpion!

more so after having a look at my 500l motor, i mean how are you supposed to take that thing apart without busting it?. were as the scorpion motor take of the collar & job done, easy way to replace the bearings its all good.. hell yeah baby just got to learn a bit better collective managment with the extra power i was throwing the heli about more than i expected it, so iv dropped my cyclic a bit to compensate..... iv bought these stick bling Knobs brand new i used them once & never liked them too thick for me, but good for thumb flyers here is a couple of pics if you live in the uk, anyone who might want them can have them for free just pm me your address & il post them to you free no bother as i certanly won't use them again, i bought them for my dx7 i thought they looked good on the web site which they do, but i can't get used to them so i guess they will fit a few different types of radio jr & such:smokin:

To take apart the 500L, you have to melt the epoxy on the motor with a blowtorch and twist the motor apart. Must like you do with the 430XL. I haven't done it but it can be done. Much more work than with the scorpion for sure.

just the word blow torch amuses me, it must be a FNM to take apart. luckily i don't care for it anymore, that motor is a back up for the back up IMO scorpion rules & the price is very light

yeah that motor is definatly different to mine, luckily enough the old design wasn't a problem for me, as the Rhino pinion sits on top of the collar so no mods needed & the collar does fit through the stock align motor mount, so other than having to solder 4mm plugs on its a straight swap.. id like to no the other differences to the old motor what else is different, other than that c clip & the main shaft plus i can see coloured wire's were the old one the wires are all black just my luck just as i buy a new one, they release a new model.. ha what a shame for me ooh im pissed now:arggg: yeah right:banana good luck with the new model now you can tell everyone the difference in flight. does the align 15T pinion work now ? have you got to mod it in anyway?, & on & on :tongue

I think powerwise there are no diffrent, just a bit less trick to fit in the bird, i hate soldering, allways screw up my
worktable with it.....
the time will thel if the bearings live are be better.....
bigest reason i buy,coz 55USD is really worth to go, it would cost me a 100 in my country.......
prices here in Hong-Kong are just sick compere to swiss

i couldn't agree more i ordered my motor from the states & it was still cheaper with the post than buying in the uk, as the uk is lethal for spare part prices. my heli has cost me more than most of the cars out side my house, ha i think all in about £1400,about $2800dollars, i think the yanks would have a heart attack if they moved over here and ordered parts i guess the only upside to your motor will probably be the bearings, plus the moaning of people having to mod there's to get a align pinion on but i no if my bearings do go its cool as they are easily replaced...

shure i agree...
its just amazing how they rip us up over here in europe, but stay in asia for once a while for business-reason makes me spend eaven more because its so cheap here, but when i return home i realize shiii....Visa bill hits you back to reality...bloody heli adiction.its like taking
heroin.
Back to scorpion, i just love them....
if there is any diffrent for flightperformance will let you guys know

just had another 4 flights today with the scorpion 1400kv 15 t pinion & no matter what i do i can't get it to bog today was the first time i did quick on the spot aileron tick tocks also i tryed 4 points tick toks, i managed 3 but i couldn't beleive it absolutly awesome i droped batt time to 4min 10sec landed, checked batt it was barley warm no puffing. i like the align 2600mah 6s lipo after flight charged the bantam charger i have put 1900mah back into the 2600mah batt so not bad i thought, & also the power woh wakes the bird right up..
