On my DX7, when throttle curve program states stick is in the 50% (center position) stick is actually around 58%. Is there anyway to remedy this? My son's is dead on, but of all that I have come across, at least a third are off to some degree, with mine being the worse. Was wondering if anyone else has come across this and was able to fix it.

This thread over at rcgroups has more info: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=609802

Have a look at post #73 (over on page 5) for more info on calibrating your Tx.

Please note that I haven't tried this (yet). It is not my fault if you screw up your DX7 while trying this.

My elevator stick does not give me full range; it is just a tiny bit below the the maximum. The other stick do not have this issue. I may try recalibrating myself. If I do, I will report back.

Cheers,

Mathijs

This seems to work fine. I made some modifications and my radio still works. ;)

To sum things up:
Go to the 'Model select' (access) menu. Do this by turning your radio off and turning it back on while having 'scroll down' and 'select' buttons pressed down.
Go to the 'Model reset' menu. Get into the service menu by pressing 'decrease', flipping the 'aileron d/r' switch to the other position, pressing 'increase', flipping the 'aileron d/r' switch, pressing 'decrease', etc. Do this (should be 5 times) until the LCD display turns black.
You are now in the service menu, where you can screw up your Tx. ;)
Use the up/down buttons to go to the 'stick center?' menu.
Make sure all sticks are centered (especially throttle) and press 'clear' to reset the center position.
Optionally, you may modify the min/max settings for the stick. Press 'up' once to get from the 'stick center' menu to this menu. It lists ST1 through ST4 and a bunch of zeroes. Select a stick with the 'select' button and twiddle your sticks to see which one you are modifying - the numbers will change. Fully move the stick to one end and press 'clear' to set the value - you will see the numbers change. Move the stick to the other end and press 'clear' again. Do this for all four sticks.
After modifying settings, you need to save them. It seems that, as long as you do not save the modifications, you can return to your old settings by turning your Tx off and on again. You save by going to the 'all settings ok?' menu and pressing the 'clear' button (like it says in that menu). There is a monitor menu in the service menu, just like in the normal setup screens. It seems to reflect your new settings (before saving them). I am not entirely sure though. Also note that the values shown are affected by things like curves.

Anyway, thanks to user Marc1 on rcgroups for the info.

Cheers,

Mathijs

Just got my DX7 last night and i thought something was wrong cause mid stick is input 44 (not 50).
Just read this thread, i will program the centre tonight. Thanks for the info.

Happy to hear that somebody found a solution to this problem. My stick center on the throttle is far enough off to be noticably different when transitioning between transmitters of my heli and sim. Would like to hear the outcome of your "fix" helicraze before diving into my service menu. Let us know how it worked out for you.

I did the cal last night.

Its very easy and I don't see how you can stuff anything up. I just has input/output and centre/limit cal with couple of screens. Follow the instructions as above and do the centre cal and the limit cal, its worth it, now its spot on!!!
Make sure to check over your heli settings.

Alright, I recentered my throttle stick and that was sure easy enough. Is it necessary to recalibrate end points as well? ....and will this change anything on the setup of the heli itself? I'm thinkng it shouldn't.

I would say yes as when i re cal the centre i found the range was only 0-96 not 100.

Your doing half you may as well do the whole lot, then you know its spot on.

It will not change the heli setup, just give you perfectly even travel!

Come to think of it my 2720 JR radio (36mhz same as DX7) throttle was always spot on but the travel for the cyclic was always a little off! If only i new about this menu then.

Can't wait to fly and give it a go.

Ok helicraze, you convinced me to recalibrate the end points as well. Your inputs have been much appreciated. thanks.

I am finding while reading over various forums this is very common for peoples radio not being calibrated correctly from the factory!
I can see how it could through off a new comer.

All off us have had automatic exponential and dual rates programmed into our brains to compensate for the crappy calibration! LOL
